HUDDERSFIELD (4-2-3-1): Lossl; Smith, Jorgensen, Schindler, Lowe; Billing, Mooy; Kachunga, Ince, Van La Parra; Mounie.
The team news has been announced and we'll start with the home side.
Newcastle had a nightmare start to life back in the Premier League. Rafael Benitez's men frustrated Tottenham for the opening 48 minutes of the contest before a moment of madness of Jonjo Shelvey reduced them to 10 men. Dele Alli and Ben Davies capitalised to guide Spurs to a comfortable three points.
Huddersfield began life in the Premier League perfectly by defeating Crystal Palace 3-0 at Selhurst Park. Record signing Steve Mounie scored a brace on his debut, while an own goal from Joel Ward kickstarted their victory. David Wagner will now be looking for a similar performance against the Magpies today.
Good afternoon and welcome to the live commentary of the Premier League clash between Huddersfield and Newcastle at John Smith's Stadium.
Huddersfield have made one change from their win over Palace. Rajiv van La Parra comes into the side to replace Kasey Palmer, who drops to the bench. Mounie continues to lead the line, while Tom Ince could shift into a central area behind him in support this afternoon.
Newcastle have made three changes from their defeat to Spurs - all of them are enforced. Shelvey's ban obviously rules him out and Mikel Merino comes into the side to replace him in the middle of the park. Injuries to Paul Dummett and Florian LeJeune press Chancel Mbemba and Jamaal Lascelles into action after both started the opener on the bench, with Ciaran Clark potentially shifting to left-back.
FLASHBACK! Newcastle won this contest last season 3-1 on their way to the Championship title. Goals from Matt Ritchie, Dwight Gayle and Daryl Murphy handed the Magpies the victory, despite a penalty from Aaron Mooy.
STAT ATTACK! Huddersfield have won only one of their last 11 meetings against Newcastle. That came in the earlier fixture between the sides at St James' Park last season where Wagner's men were 2-1 victors.
STAT ATTACK! Only two promoted sides in the history of the Premier League have won their opening two matches. Hull City won their first two matches last season, while Bolton Wanderers achieved the feat in 2001.
The players are making their way out on to the pitch, so we should be underway shortly.
HALF-TIME: HUDDERSFIELD 0-0 NEWCASTLE
It's goalless at the break as neither side has been able to conjure a breakthrough. Huddersfield dominated possession, but did not carve out a clear-cut opening at goal. The best opening of the half came for Newcastle as Matt Ritchie's goalbound drive was brilliantly saved by Jonas Lossl.
David Wagner will be satisfied with his side's effort, although he will be demanding more quality in the final third. Rafael Benitez will be pleased with his team's resilience, but will also be looking for a clinical edge in the second period.
The players are back out for the second half, so we should be underway shortly.
FULL-TIME: HUDDERSFIELD 1-0 NEWCASTLE
Huddersfield's fine start to the Premier League season continues as Aaron Mooy's strike hands them the three points this afternoon. They join Hull City and Bolton as newly-promoted sides to win their opening two matches of the top-flight campaign, winning their first home match in the division. Newcastle had a couple of brief moments, but it looks to be a long season ahead for Rafael Benitez and his men.
Thanks for joining our commentary this afternoon. Until next time, goodbye.
