Middlesbrough get this FA Cup match underway!
After a positive start to life under new boss Jose Mourinho, Tottenham have continued to stutter. They've won just one of their last four games in all competitions and still can't keep a clean sheet. Maybe Mourinho isn't the messiah, at least yet.
Thankfully for Spurs, their first FA Cup outing this season is a trip to Championship side Middlesbrough, who are struggling to score and are currently languishing in the bottom half of the Championship. Will Mourinho's men leave the North East with a morale-boosting win, or a damaging defeat?

Hello! Welcome to our live text commentary of this FA Cup third-round tie between Middlesbrough and Tottenham at the Riverside Stadium.
Both teams will have their names in the hat for the FA Cup fourth-round draw then. On this evidence, Tottenham will have to improve quite a lot if they plan to seriously contend for this famous trophy. That's all for now. Goodbye!
That's a great result for Middlesbrough. Their patience in keeping faith with Woodgate's management after a slow start is now starting to pay off. Tottenham will find this result frustrating with their fixture list already clogged. They should feel confident of getting the job done next time though.
