There's a loose ball in the Fulham penalty area and Rondon tried to control it, but his touch let him down and it rolls out for a goal-kick.
90' +2
Rondon and Ream battle for the ball after it was played forward, and the Fulham defender managed to get a foot to it and cleared it away.
90'
There will be four minutes of added time.
89'
Kenedy gets yellow.
Kenedy picks up a yellow card of his own.
88'
Dubravka dribbles around Mitrovic who put the keeper under pressure, and only just got away with it! That was very dangerous but does not sting Newcastle.
87'
J. Seri gets yellow.
Seri pulls back Rondon in the centre circle in order to prevent a quick counter from the hosts, and picks up a yellow card for the foul.
85'
After a free-kick, Rico punches the ball out to Kenedy just outside of the box and the Newcastle man shoots... well, well wide. Very little composure shown by the Brazilian there.
84'
A. Kamara gets yellow.
D. Yedlin enters the game and replaces Javier Manquillo.
Wingback swap for Newcastle as Manquillo is replaced by DeAndre Yedlin.
Kamara went over the ball and caught Manquillo, and the former is shown yellow for his efforts.
82'
F. Ayité enters the game and replaces T. Cairney.
Cairney is withdrawn as Ayite is brought on by Fulham.
Minute
Description
80'
Dummett tries an early cross forward to Rondon that faills to find its target... again.
76'
A. Kamara enters the game and replaces A. Schürrle.
Ki and Bryan battle each other just outside the Fulham penalty area and the latter is deemed to have handled it. Newcastle will have another free-kick as a result.
Kamara enters the fray with Schurrle making way.
74'
A couple of consecutive corners for Newcastle come to nothing as the second resulted in a header by Schar which landed on the roof of the goal, rather than going inside it.
73'
Ritchie lines up another cross, but this one is deflected almost as soon as it leaves his foot. Throw-in for Newcastle.
72'
Kenedy enters the game and replaces C. Atsu.
Here is that change as Atsu comes off with Kenedy replacing him on the wing.
70'
It looks as though Kenedy is about to be brought on as the first substitute to enter the match.
68'
The hosts seem content to pass the ball around the centre circle as they plot their next move forward.
63'
Schurrle was dribbling along the left touchline and was deemed to have let the ball run out of play though, on second glance, it looks as though he was able to keep it in play. Harsh call that.
62'
Perez was found in the box with a long-ball and he flicked it on to... no one as neither Rondon nor Atsu were alive to the situation.
56'
Newcastle challenge the Fulham defence twice in a matter of seconds as Rondon's header was cleared by Chambers, followed by a pass into the box by Dummett which was then cleared away by Mawson.
55'
Schurrle was played forward by Cairney, only to then be called for offside. The offside trap worked perfectly for Newcastle there as Schar stepped up at the crucial moment.
53'
Ritchie commits a late challenge on Cairney and is given a final warning by the referee rather than a card.
52'
Christie tries another long ball forward to Mitrovic, but Lascelles was able to get to it first and passed it back to his keeper.
50'
Atsu and Ki combine well on the right, before the latter attempted something resembling a cross that flew well beyond everyone in the box and it goes out for a goal-kick.
49'
Christie puts the ball behind to safety, thereby awarding Newcastle their second corner of the match.
47'
Mitrovic times his run perfectly and is found by Chambers in the box, he opens up his body and tries to curl the ball into the far-corner... but Dubravka smothers it with ease.
46'
The referee's whistle sounds again, and we're back underway!
45' +3
HALF-TIME: Newcastle United 0-0 Fulham
45' +2
Ritchie's cross from the left wing was just a little behind Rondon who could only just make contact with it, and was unable to turn it goalward.
45'
There will be three minutes of added time.
44'
Fulham launch on a counter-attack down the right, but the runner is tracked down by Dummett and play slows once more.
41'
Seri takes the free-kick which was on target, though it lacked the pace to beat Dubravka who managed to get his body behind the ball.
39'
Bad foul by Schar as he takes down Bryan right in front of referee Martin Atkinson. The player avoids a card but has conceded a dangerous free-kick to the visitors.
38'
Rondon wins a foot race with Odoi, and is then pulled down by the latter who is called for the foul.
36'
After the corner, Ki tried a right-footed effort from range, but it dragged wide left of goal.
30'
Now it's Fulham who are on the front foot as, after a long period of possession, Christie tried to cross the ball into Mitrovic from the right only to see it soar over the latter's head. Obviously not a goal, but they're getting closer.
28'
Mitrovic is found with a pass at the top of the box and he attempts a pass first-time but it's easily cut out by Newcastle. Surprising that the Serbian striker chose not to try his luck from there.
25'
A bit of sloppy play from both sides over the last few minutes as no one has been able to string together enough passes to make meaningful progress into the other side's half.
22'
Dubravka picks the ball up very near the edge of his penalty area, but it seems he did manage to avoid touching it outside the box which, of course, would have been a red card.
20'
Newcastle are starting to take control of this match, with the last 10 minutes or so being played nearly exclusively in Fulham's half.
16'
Bryan commits to a slide-tackle, and it's incredibly well timed as he got to the ball and swiped it away just before Schar got there at full stretch.
11'
Ritchie is found with a lovely cross-field pass and swings in a cross that's immediately put behind by Fulham. This will be the first corner of the match.
9'
Ki tries an incisive through-ball forward to Atsu, but he's gotten the angle wrong and it rolls harmlessly into the arms of Rico.
7'
Mitrovic is called offside as he went a little too early before a Christie long-ball was played forward.
6'
Mitrovic continues to drift left as there has been loads of space out there. He collects the ball rather than playing it first-time to Cairney had he seen him, and a potential move is lost.
4'
Hardly a slow start here as, at the other end of the pitch, there's a mild penalty shout from Rondon! Ream beat the Newcastle man to the ball, but the latter went down in a heap in the box as the referee remained unmoved.
3'
Mitrovic collects the ball out on the left wing, cuts into the box, and tries a shot from an acute angle, but Dubravka collects for the second time in as many minutes.
2'
Fulham start the match with a decent spell of possession that ends with a ball lofted forward to Christie that was just a little too strong, and winds up in the hands of Dubravka.
1'
Referee Martin Atkinson blows his whistle, and we're underway at St. James' Park!
Hello, and welcome to our live coverage of this Premier League match between Newcastle United and Fulham!
Those trends to the side, today we will see what happens when an entirely stoppable force meets an equally movable object as Newcastle’s attack is 18th in goals scored (14), while Fulham rank dead-last in goals conceded (42).
Now let's look at how these sides will be lining up today!
Newcastle (4-4-1-1): Martin Dubravka; Javier Manquillo, Jamaal Lascelles, Fabian Schar, Paul Dummett; Matt Ritchie, Mohamed Diame, Ki Sung-yueng, Christian Atsu; Ayoze Perez; Salomon Rondon.
Fulham (3-4-3): Sergio Rico; Denis Odoi, Alfie Mawson, Tim Ream; Cyrus Christie, Calum Chambers, Jean Michel Seri, Joe Bryan; Tom Cairney, Aleksandar Mitrovic, Andre Schurrle.
Fulham substitutes: Marcus Bettinelli, Maxime Le Marchand, Stefan Johansen, Kevin McDonald, Floyd Ayite, Luciano Vietto, Aboubakar Kamara.
The teams are out on the pitch and huddling up. Not long to go now!
Newcastle have played well in the first half, but they, and their manager, will surely be disappointed that they have not been able to score past Fulham's historically bad defence. Rondon continues to look a threat and could yet find the back of the net, though Benitez may need to make some changes in the second half if they are to find a way through. The defence has managed the Fulham attack well, allowing just three shots thus far, but will need to stay vigilant.
Fulham must be delighted to have made it through half a match without conceding! They've really committed themselves thus far, getting in the way of passes and shots, and allowing zero of the latter on target. In attack, they have been mostly forced out wide which is not really their game, though if they can provide Mitrovic decent service via crosses, they could still find a goal that way. In midfield, their passing has been better than in recent weeks and, if they can prevent cheap giveaways in their own half, they may be able to keep their first clean sheet of the season.
We joked before the match about the stoppable force meeting the movable object in this match but it was the latter, Fulham's defence, who held triumphantly. Manager Claudio Ranieri was quoted this week as saying "I need a clean sheet like I need bread, like I need pasta", and his side have delivered today keeping their first clean sheet of the campaign. Newcastle had plenty of half-chances, but were unable to put a single shot on target today, failing to score for a second time in the last five matches. The highlights of this match will be filled with penalty shouts from each side that Martin Atkinson refused but, on balance of play, a draw is just about the right result today.
That will do it for our live coverage of this Premier League match between Newcastle Untied and Fulham! We hope you enjoyed following along, and will join us again soon!
Newcastle will surely be disappointed to have only drawn against a team at the bottom of the table, especially as their next match will come against the team at the top, Liverpool, on Boxing Day. As for Fulham, they will hope to parlay this win into momentum as they prepare for a midweek matchup against fellow promoted side Wolves.
