We're underway at the Camp Nou.
We're only two months into the season, but tonight's contest could have huge ramifications in the title race. Sevilla have been early pacesetters at the top of the league, although Alaves leapfrogged them this afternoon to take pole position. Pablo Machin's men have lost two of their opening eight matches, which came in back-to-back weeks against Real Betis and Getafe. Since then they've won three matches on the spin, including a 3-0 win over Real Madrid. Barcelona enter the contest on the back of one of their worst runs in their recent history, failing to win any of their last four matches. The reigning champions will be desperate to prove a point to end their poor pattern of results.
Good evening and welcome to the live commentary of the LaLiga clash between Barcelona and Sevilla at the Camp Nou.

The players are out on the pitch so we should be underway shortly.
Barcelona lead Sevilla 2-0 at the break, but Lionel Messi's injury is the major talking point of the first half. Messi fell awkwardly on his right arm after handing his side a two-goal advantage, teeing up Philippe Coutinho for the first goal before scoring the second himself. However, the Argentine appeared to be in discomfort on the ground after falling in a challenge. He was last seen being bandaged up, clutching his arm to his chest. With El Clasico only eight days away, it's a huge concern for Ernesto Valverde.
Pablo Machin will not be happy with his team's performance in the opening 45 minutes. It started badly when Coutinho scored in the second minute, while his side then allowed Messi to double Barca's advantage. After the Argentine was forced off there was no response from the visitors to apply serious pressure. Guilherme Arana did hit the post before Messi notched the second goal, but other than that Sevilla have barely threatened the Barcelona goal. Machin will be demanding an improvement after the break.
Barcelona secure the win to move back to the summit of LaLiga, although it comes at a price as Lionel Messi suffered an arm injury. The Argentine played a decisive role in handing his team an early a two-goal advantage, setting up Philippe Coutinho for the opener before scoring the second himself with a brilliant left-footed finish. However, he then fell awkwardly on his right arm and was forced from the field. The Catalan club were not deterred by his absence, although there were indebted to two brilliant double saves from Marc-Andre ter Stegen. The German's excellence allowed Luis Suarez and Ivan Rakitic to get their team over the line, although Pablo Sarabia and Luis Muriel found the net for Sevilla. Pablo Machin's men will leave the Camp Nou believing that they could have had a share of the spoils, but their finishing was not good enough on the night.
Thanks for joining our commentary this evening. Until next time, goodbye.
Messi's injury looms large for Barcelona in a very important week for the club. They face Inter in the Champions League at the Camp Nou before hosting Real Madrid in El Clasico on Sunday. It did look a serious injury for the Argentine, although every Barcelona fan will have their fingers crossed that it is less severe than first appeared. Sevilla face Akhisarspor in the Europa League in their next outing before playing Huesca in LaLiga in eight days.
