Smalling wins a free-kick from McArthur by the corner flag. Palace are running out of time. United have shown great spirit to come back after a really poor first half.

85'
The game is being played at a great pace now. Can either side find a winner? United have been the better side in this second half, but Palace have squandered some big chances.

83'
Palace desperately attempt to slow United's momentum as the visitors win a free-kick. Mata's delivery is cleared.
CHANCE! What an opportunity for McArthur! Palace counter through Sorloth and the midfielder ghosts into the middle completely unmarked, but he cannot control or make a clean connection with a shot. United clear and attack again.
81'
Mourinho is furious with Shaw as he gives away a throw-in as United look to pile on the pressure. He has his work cut out up against the energetic Townsend.

Description
80'
J. Riedewald enters the game and replaces J. Schlupp.
SUB! Schlupp, making his return from injury today, bows out with 10 minutes remaining. On comes Riedewald.
United want a handball as Riedewald is instantly involved. Mata's pass looks to strike the defender's shoulder in the area. No penalty.
78'
Having been pegged back, it's now all Palace. United clear following a scramble, before Sorloth shoots well, well wide from distance.
77'
SAVE! What an unbelievable stop from De Gea! Benteke thinks he has nodded Palace back in front, but a downward header is somehow scooped away from the goal-line by De Gea. Outstanding.
76'
R. Lukaku has scored a goal for Manchester United!
GOAL! United are level through Lukaku! It's frantic in the area, Sanchez's strike looping up off the crossbar and falling for Lukaku. The forward takes his time as players dive in before firing low into the net. 2-2.
75'
A. Townsend gets yellow.
YELLOW! Townsend hammers the ball into the crowd and he's booked.
Benteke is there again! A towering header turns the corner away. He has made a couple of vital interventions at the back from set-pieces.
74'
BLOCK! What a clearance from Benteke! Matic is free at the back post and hammers a shot on target. Hennessey is beaten, but Benteke is back on the line to clear.
This is getting a bit desperate for Palace. Mata gets in behind but cannot find a team-mate, before Sanchez forces a corner.
73'
Corner to United. Tomkins knocks the ball behind as Lingard crosses towards Lukaku.
Mata's delivery is flicked on and United work another crossing opportunity with Lingard. Benteke heads behind. Another corner.
71'
CHANCE! Lingard really should do better! He meets Lukaku's cross from the right but does not get enough on the header, the ball running for Shaw, who loses out to Wan-Bissaka.
70'
OVER! Benteke heads off target again! Wan-Bissaka combines with Townsend again and crosses, his team-mate getting up above Lindelof but struggling to keep the ball down.
69'
WIDE! Rashford curls a low free-kick just wide of the near post! Pogba wins a foul wide on the left and the England man looks to catch out Hennessey with a shot. The ball fizzes past the post.
68'
It's all United right now. They are edging forward. Palace have 11 men behind the ball.
67'
Mata enters the game and replaces A. Young.
L. Shaw enters the game and replaces A. Valencia.
SUB! Is this a change of shape for United? A second change sees Mata replace Young.
SUB! Here comes Shaw. He replaces captain Valencia.
66'
SAVE! Pogba is growing into this game and he draws a smart save from Hennessey! A curler looks to catch the goalkeeper out at his near post, but it's a firm parry.
65'
Smalling gives away a free-kick for a needless foul on Benteke, but he at least deals with the consequent cross. United are meanwhile readying Shaw.
WIDE! Benteke nods off target! Townsend keeps the attack alive and Van Aanholt then crosses from the left. Benteke rises highest, but a tame header lacks direction.
64'
United get men forward and line them up 20 yards from goal. Pogba makes the run in behind, Sanchez lifts a cross in, but he cannot control and Hennessey claims.
63'
Wonderful defending from Wan-Bissaka as he chops down Rashford in the area, but Townsend's cross at the other end - following a swift counter - is blocked.
62'
De Gea has not had his best of games here, but he claims comfortably as Van Aanholt crosses from the left. It's a poor delivery.
60'
Sanchez is left bemused as he is penalised after seemingly getting in behind Tomkins on the right. The Palace man lunged into a challenge, but Sanchez's shoulder-barge is punished.
59'
Townsend drives Palace forward on the right, but it's United who this time get men back to reduce the options for the England winger.
57'
A. Young gets yellow.
Yet another United corner! They break at speed and Palace just about get the ball away from a crowded penalty area before Matic's shot is deflected behind.
YELLOW! Relief for Palace. The initial delivery is headed away and Young then fouls McArthur to let the hosts off the hook. He goes into the book.
56'
SAVE! Nervy from De Gea! Wan-Bissaka's cross is deep and might be heading into the far corner before De Gea reaches up to turn the ball away. He's very nearly caught out.
55'
C. Smalling has scored a goal for Manchester United! Assist by A. Valencia.
That goal owes much to Valencia, who takes his time and picks out his team-mate with a measured delivery.
GOAL! Smalling gets it right this time! The initial corner is cleared, but a second delivery finds Smalling and Pogba completely free at the far post. The defender meets the ball and finds the bottom-right corner. 2-1.
54'
Another United corner. Pogba shoots from 20 yards and the ball deflects behind off Kelly.
53'
CHANCE! Smalling nods wide! He may be fouling Tomkins as he meets Rashford's corner, but it's still a bad miss. Is this going to be Palace's day? There's a long way to go yet.
52'
Corner to United. Rashford is causing Wan-Bissaka a few problems and he gets to the byline, forcing the defender to make a challenge.
50'
SAVE! Pogba gets plenty behind a strike from 30 yards but it's straight at Hennessey. Well held by the goalkeeper.
49'
There is a great noise at Selhurst Park now, just about drowning out Mourinho, who is furious with his side. They have so much work to do.
48'
P. van Aanholt has scored a goal for Crystal Palace! Assist by J. Schlupp.
GOAL! Palace are two up through Van Aanholt! A quick free-kick sets the full-back away on the left and he has acres to run into, taking his time to sidefoot a finish high past De Gea at his near post. 2-0.
It is Schlupp's quick-thinking that sets Van Aanholt away, with the United back-line all at sea.
47'
United's passing is again sloppy at the start of this second half. They will need to be much better to take the points.
Brilliant from Rashford! And superb defending! The England international drives at Townsend and Wan-Bissaka, beating both before the latter dives back to knock the ball away.
46'
M. Rashford enters the game and replaces S. McTominay.
SUB! Rashford is on for United, replacing McTominay in an attacking move.
KICK-OFF: United get us back up and running. Palace lead 1-0 with 45 minutes remaining.
45' +3
HALF-TIME: Crystal Palace 1 Manchester United 0
45' +2
Hennessey belatedly gets the game restarted as Mourinho heads towards the tunnel on the sidelines.
45' +1
There's one minute of stoppage time to be played, but that will extend further as a clash of heads between Milivojevic and Young requires attention.
45'
Boos and whistles ring around Selhurst Park as a foul is given against Sorloth, who had looked to be away from Matic on halfway.
44'
Great defending from Townsend! McTominay wins the ball for United in the Palace half, but his team-mates are so slow to advance that Townsend gets back and steals the ball from Pogba.
43'
After a short delay, Palace deliver the consequent free-kick. Milivojevic's cross is easily dealt with.
42'
S. McTominay gets yellow.
YELLOW! McTominay goes into the book for a wild challenge on Van Aanholt that somehow misses both man and ball.
40'
WIDE! Lingard lets fly, his shot is well wide. Taking possession on the left, 20 yards from goal, he shoots instantly and drags the effort.
39'
Sanchez seeks out Pogba in the area, but he drills a pass just behind the Frenchman's run. There are tentative penalty appeals from the visiting supporters. Pogba is not looking for anything from the referee.
37'
There's concern for Palace now. Pogba wins a free-kick, but it's Milivojevic who is left nursing a knock.
As the Palace captain recovers, Pogba again wastefully gives up possession. Twice in quick succession he launches a hopeful pass across the pitch and out of play. He is not enjoying this so far.
35'
Pogba leads an attack on the right, but Palace get numbers back so quickly that Sanchez and Lukaku are both crowded out in the centre of the pitch. Frustration for the visitors.
34'
The two teams are too easily giving the ball away right now. Attacks at either end are hindered by poor touches and loose passes.
32'
Sanchez goes down in a challenge with McArthur. He slowly picks himself back up, limping gingerly, as Benteke's latest dribble comes to nothing at the other end.
31'
Lingard is forced wide just as he looks to be in on the right side of the area. United recycle the ball, but Palace take the first opportunity to clear.
30'
There's a roar of approval from the home supporters as Schlupp snaps into a challenge on Sanchez. The Chilean looks a little frustrated here. He has been one of United's better players.
28'
More space for Townsend on the right and Smalling is forced to head the ball out for a throw-in. Benteke is working hard and holding the ball up well, with Sorloth also providing an outlet from the left.
27'
OVER! Townsend lashes just over the top from at least 25 yards out! He works space well in the centre as Palace enjoy some rare possession.
26'
A nervy moment for Hennessey! He comes to claim Pogba's cross from the right and instead lets the ball slip through his gloves. The delivery runs for a Palace defender, to the goalkeeper's relief.
24'
More United possession, but they still make little progress. Sanchez continues to work hard, though.
23'
McTominay is the latest United player who cannot find a team-mate in behind. Hennessey has all the time in the world to kick long and build again for Palace.
22'
Kelly makes a crucial intervention, meeting Sanchez's cross ahead of Lingard, and Wan-Bissaka hacks clear. Palace's defensive work has been good so far after a shaky showing against Tottenham last time out.
21'
Is this going to be another difficult day for Pogba away from home? His touch has not been quite right so far and Palace are having some joy in the midfield.
20'
That's more like it! United go through the centre, Sanchez lifting a pass into the box for Lukaku. The Belgian cannot quite stretch out a toe and a relieved Hennessey claims.
19'
United are not getting anywhere. The two wide men for Palace - Townsend and Schlupp - are working so hard to keep their opposite numbers in check.
18'
SAVE! De Gea denies Sorloth! The forward muscles Matic off the ball and drives at goal, cutting inside onto his left foot and shooting low. It's a relatively comfortable stop in the end.
17'
The ball bounces right in front of De Gea, but United just about scramble the cross away to safety. Palace keep pressing.
16'
Townsend has made a really bright start. His latest dash down the right earns a corner from Pogba. The England winger will take...
15'
Another offside call goes against United and this time Lukaku. The visitors have offered little besides that Sanchez chance when Hennessey saved well. Palace are relatively comfortable.
14'
Benteke is having an impact early on, with United struggling to deal with two physical forwards. That back-line continues to give cause for concern for Mourinho in games against the division's lesser sides.
13'
Mourinho's men look for an immediate response, but Lingard is offside as he darts in behind in pursuit of Sanchez's pass.
12'
How will United respond? That goal has certainly given the home fans a lift.
11'
A. Townsend has scored a goal for Crystal Palace! Assist by C. Benteke.
GOAL! Townsend fires Palace in front! It looks like a wonderful strike from 20 yards into the top-right corner, but replays show Lindelof's deflection wrongfooted De Gea. Townsend and Palace will care very little about that. They lead. 1-0.
Benteke is involved in the build-up, charging up the left and holding the ball up well for the onrushing Townsend.
10'
There's plenty of energy about this Palace display, but United are working hard to close down the home players around 30 yards from goal.
9'
United are starting to turn the screw. Young crosses a couple of times from the left and Pogba then lifts in a centre of his own. Palace just about deal with those balls and then Valencia commits a foul.
8'
Sanchez looks to feed Lingard, but Palace have men back to cut out the teasing pass, with Tomkins then halting Lukaku's progress. The hosts clear.
7'
The United fans are in good voice as their side feel their way into this first half.
6'
SAVE! Hennessey keeps out Sanchez! United's first real forward foray and it's route one, Lingard knocking the ball on for Sanchez in the area. A close-range header is well blocked by the advancing spread-eagled goalkeeper.
5'
Palace win the game's first corner after some awful United defending. Smalling hacks hopelessly at Van Aanholt's cross and Lindelof then follows suit, lashing the ball behind.
And a first shot for Tomkins. It's a tame one, though. The ball pops up for the centre-back to attempt an overhead-kick, but the acrobatic action lacks direction.
4'
Palace move the ball nicely up the right, with Townsend then delivering an in-swinger towards Schlupp. Valencia ushers the ball behind.
3'
Van Aanholt is back up again and trots off after receiving treatment, before soon returning to the action. United can attack for the first time.
2'
There's a stoppage now and the Palace fans are not happy, with Van Aanholt down. He appears to be claiming he has taken a blow to the face from Valencia.
1'
KICK-OFF: Palace get us under way at Selhurst Park.
It's a scrappy start with a series of throw-ins for either side. Pogba goes down after the first challenge of the game, but he's quickly back on his feet.
Hello and welcome to our live text commentary of the Premier League fixture between Crystal Palace and Manchester United at Selhurst Park!
The aim for United now is to simply delay rivals Manchester City's third Premier League triumph - their fifth top-flight championship in all - and hopefully avoid the embarrassment of conceding the title in April's derby. The gap stands at 19 points as Jose Mourinho's third-placed side tackle this sole game in hand.
Crystal Palace (4-4-2): Wayne Hennessey, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Martin Kelly, James Tomkins, Patrick van Aanholt, Andros Townsend, James McArthur, Luka Milivojevic, Jeffrey Schlupp, Christian Benteke, Alexander Sorloth.
Zaha is again unavailable today, but let's get the rest of the team news...
Subs: Joel Pereira, Marcus Rashford, Michael Carrick, Eric Bailly, Matteo Darmian, Juan Mata, Luke Shaw.
Manchester United (4-3-3): David de Gea, Antonio Valencia, Chris Smalling, Victor Lindelof, Ashley Young, Scott McTominay, Nemanja Matic, Paul Pogba, Alexis Sanchez, Romelu Lukaku, Jesse Lingard.
Subs: Diego Cavalieri, Jaroslaw Jach, Lee Chung-yong, Erdal Rakip, Jairo Riedewald, Pape Souare, Damien Delaney.
They face a Palace team that is struggling, Roy Hodgson's rescue mission at his boyhood club having faltered when faced with a tricky run of fixtures and an injury list that contains one Wilfried Zaha. The Eagles have lost every game this season when the former United winger has been absent.
Timothy Fosu-Mensah cannot play against his parent club, while Riedewald drops to the Palace bench. In come the returning pair of Kelly and Schlupp. Former Brazil goalkeeper Cavalieri, signed on a free last week, is involved for the first time.
Lingard replaces Anthony Martial in United's only change. Meanwhile, Mourinho said this week of Rashford's World Cup hopes: "It doesn't matter if he plays or doesn't play." He's on the bench once again.
Palace were soundly beaten in the reverse fixture at Old Trafford in September, as Marouane Fellaini's double helped the hosts to a 4-0 win. That remains United's joint-biggest victory of the season.
And, if the memory of that game wasn't painful enough for Hodgson's side, how's this for a stat from Opta...
Palace haven't won any of their 17 Premier League meetings with United - the most a team has played another without a single victory in the competition. They have scored just five goals across those matches.
The teams are in the tunnel! Can Palace, winless in five and in the bottom three, cause a shock here? We're about to find out.
There has been little to shout about for the visitors since that Sanchez chance, but there are still 45 minutes to go. We will have updates from the second half shortly...
After Hennessey denied Sanchez early on, Townsend netted the opener for Palace and they are good value for a half-time lead. They have worked harder than United, who have been ever so sloppy.
The Palace players are bent double in the middle of the pitch, beaten by Matic's stunning stoppage-time strike. The hosts had led 2-0 through Townsend and Van Aanholt.
Back came the visitors with Smalling and then Lukaku, though, and Matic's late winner earned all three points. United go second, Palace remain in the bottom three.
That's all from this one. Thanks for joining us and, until next time, goodbye!
