Description
117'
Ronan finds plenty of joy over on the right flank once again as he easily skips past an injured-looking Zinchenko. The substitute then darts towards the edge of the box and crosses, but it's deflected behind for a corner that's well dealt with by the home side.
115'
Almost a great chance for Wolves! A Ronan cross fails to pick out a team-mate in front of goal, but the visitors come back once again through Vinagre out wide. The full-back comfortably cuts inside and sprints towards the near post, where he tries to knock a pass across the face of goal only for it to be deflected behind by Mangala.
113'
Sane and De Bruyne have made a decent impact since coming off the substitutes' bench, but even they can't find a way through the sea of defenders camped in front of them. Wolves are still sitting deep and frustrating the hosts, who are looking increasingly bereft of ideas in front of goal as time slips away.
111'
Another massive opportunity for Sane! Bennett clumsily loses the ball out wide, allowing City to counter-attack quickly. Toure charges towards the Wolves penalty area and manages to get a shot away, but it's well saved by Norris. The ball then finds its way to Sane, who immediately shoots but sends his thumping effort over the crossbar.
110'

106'
We're underway once again!
105'
City try to push forward on one final attacking move before the end of the first half of extra-time, but, as has been the case all evening, they're unable to break down Wolves' excellent back line and can't carve out a chance on goal.

City have made their fourth and final change, with Kyle Walker coming on to replace Danilo, who looks absolutely shattered as he makes way.
102'
Quick play by City deep inside the Wolves half of the pitch ends with Gundogan on the edge of the visitors' penalty area, but the German can't hit the target with his first-time shot and sends it high over the crossbar after being quickly closed down.
101'
After dealing with the danger, Wolves are presented with a rare chance to break forward on a swift counter-attack. They work the ball around nicely before Cavaleiro gets a shot away from the edge of the penalty area, but it's poorly hit and rolls straight into the hands of Bravo.
100'
Huge block by Hause! Sane takes advantage of a sloppy piece of defending from the visitors to pick up the ball out wide. He then cuts inside and sets up Sterling to shoot, but his rocket of a strike is brilliantly blocked by Hause and fails to trouble Norris.
98'
Thumping strike by Sterling! The City forward skips away from the tiring Wolves defence and manages to get a shot away from the edge of the penalty area, but Norris is equal to it and pushes the shot away with a clever diving save.
96'

93'
Y. Touré gets yellow.
Toure charges towards the edge of the Wolves penalty area and goes down to the ground in search of a free-kick. There was no contact made on the midfielder, however, and he's instead shown a yellow card for simulation.

Wolves have made their third change, with Enobakhare, who put in a real shift, making way for Leonardo Bonatini.
Meanwhile, City have brought on John Stones to replace Adarabioyo.
Extra-time is underway!
90' +3
City pile plenty of bodies forward as they desperately try to find what would surely be the winner, but they're too slow in possession on the edge of the Wolves penalty area and Sterling eventually loses out. That should be that.
90' +2
Huge opportunity for Enobakhare to win the game for Wolves! City lose the ball midway inside their own half of the pitch and allow Enobakhare to break forward on an excellent counter-attack. The youngster storms through the pitch and into the box before taking on Bravo, but, once again, he's unable to beat Bravo and fires his close-range shot straight into the goalkeeper's legs.

Léo Bonatini enters the game and replaces B. Enobakhare.
The fourth official has indicated that there will be three minutes of added time.
89'
Poor play by Toure! The Ivorian receives the ball on the left-hand side of the Wolves box as City push forward on yet another determined attack, but he brings a promising attacking move to a disappointing end with a mishit pass that rolls past Zinchenko and out for a goal-kick.
88'
What a chance for Sterling! De Bruyne does wonderfully well to skip away from his marker deep down the right flank before firing a low pass across the face of goal. Norris is able to meet it but can only push the ball out Sterling, who quickly shoots but sends his first-time effort well wide of the far post. He really should have done better with that!
86'
Aguero goes down inside the penalty area, but nothing is given! Another low cross from Danilo can only find the hands of Norris, but Aguero crashes to the floor as he tries to reach the ball in front of goal. He seemed to receive a shove from Coady as they battled in the middle of the box, but the referee isn't at all interested.
84'
R. Bennett gets yellow.
Another quick City counter-attack ends with a yellow card for a Wolves player, and this time it's Bennett who's booked after cynically scything Silva to the ground as he flew forward.
82'
J. Price gets yellow.
K. De Bruyne enters the game and replaces Gabriel Jesus.
With 82 minutes on the clock, the first yellow card has been shown. It's Price who finds himself on the receiving end after bringing an end to an attempted City counter-attack with a clumsy challenge on the halfway line.
City have made a late alteration as they try to find a way in front, with Kevin De Bruyne coming on to take the place of Jesus.
81'
Huge opportunity for Enobakhare to score! Mangala is left for dead by the young striker, who out-muscles the defender and breaks into the City box. He then takes on Bravo, but he can't quite get a shot away in time and is well dealt with by Tosin Adarabioyo.
80'
Jesus bursts towards the Wolves penalty area and does well to get a shot away from 20 yards out, but, as has been the case all night, Wolves have plenty of bodies back and are easily able to make sure the effort deflects into the hands of Norris.
79'
Ivan Cavaleiro enters the game and replaces Hélder Costa.
Wolves have made their second change of the evening, with Costa making way for Ivan Cavaleiro.
78'
A looping cross in from Danilo over on the right flank is a dangerous one, but Danny Batth does well to nod the ball behind at the far post before it can pick out a sky blue shirt in front of goal. It initially looks as if City are going to be awarded a corner, but the referee instead makes it a goal-kick to Wolves after judging that the ball had sailed behind on its way to Batth.
76'
Toure splits the Wolves back line in two with a clever pass that picks out Jesus. The Brazilian darts onto the ball and manages to reach it on the byline, but he can't quite pick out a team-mate and makes life easy for Norris.
74'
Zinchenko is the latest City player to fire a looping cross into the visitors' box as he tries to pick out Aguero or Jesus in front of goal, but, once again, Norris is there to dart out and deal with the danger with a comfortable take.
73'
C. Ronan enters the game and replaces B. Marshall.
72'
Wolves have made their first substitution of the night, with Connor Ronan coming on to replace Marshall.
71'
Good play by Sterling sees him send a clever pass into the right-hand side of the Wolves penalty area and towards Danilo, who tries to cut a cross back towards Aguero and Jesus but sends the ball straight into the hands of Norris at the near post.
70'
The game is starting to really open up as we enter the final 20 minutes. After enjoying only a few chances on goal in the first half, Wolves are now enjoying much more freedom on the break, and they're starting to cause problems for City when pushing forward out wide.
68'
City keep pushing forward as they continue putting pressure on the Wolves back line. Several crosses are fired into the penalty area and cause a few problems for the visitors, but Norris is eventually able to collect the ball under pressure from Jesus.
66'
And now Aguero goes close! A mistake by Norris sets up Aguero to go one-on-one with the Wolves goalkeeper, but he can't quite round the 24-year-old and loses out to an outstretched leg at the vital moment.
64'
Great save by Bravo! Costa breaks into the right-hand side of the City penalty area after a clever through-ball penetrates the hosts' back line. He only has Bravo to beat, but the goalkeeper pulls off a wonderful one-handed save to deny the Portuguese the opening goal of the game.
62'
Toure does well over on the right wing before managing to fire a low cross into the middle of the Wolves penalty area, but, frustratingly for the Ivorian, there's nobody there to meet it and the ball rolls harmlessly behind for a goal-kick.
60'
Another City attacking move fails to result in a chance on goal, allowing Wolves to quickly counter-attack once again. A lofted pass is fired over to the left wing and manages to find Costa, but the Portuguese is clumsily caught in an offside position. Nuno Espirito Santo isn't at all happy with the decision, and he berates the linesman before receiving a stern talking to from the referee for his conduct.
58'
Enobakhare, who has easily been Wolves' best player this evening, charges through the middle of the pitch and does well to pick out Marshall over on the left-hand side of the City penalty area. The number 12 quickly sets up Jack Price to shoot from 20 yards out, but the midfielder's effort is poor and flies high over the top of the crossbar.
57'
Wolves are unable to clear their lines after a beautiful pass from Gundogan causes them all sorts of problems, but the visitors have plenty of bodies back inside their box and are finally able to make sure a half-hearted header from Silva sails into Norris' hands.
55'
Wolves are presented with a rare opportunity to push forward after City decide to step off ever so slightly, but they're unable to make it count and Mangala is easily able to deal with the danger on the edge of the hosts' penalty area.
53'
Jesus is left in a bit of space deep inside of the Wolves half of the pitch and manages to spin before sending a deft pass through to Bernardo Silva. The Portuguese charges towards the ball and almost manages to reach it, but Norris is there to make sure he doesn't.
51'
Vital interception by Mangala! Enobakhare does really well to charge down the left wing after space opens up for the teenager on the break. He then cuts inside and tries to set up Costa on the edge of the penalty area, but Mangala just about manages to get a foot on the ball to knock it back to Bravo.
49'
Sterling dances his way into the right-hand side of the Wolves box but is well closed down by Marshall and has to settle for a corner. It's sent short and worked over to Danilo, who crosses from deep down the right flank but can't beat the first man.
47'
The first chance of the second half falls to Aguero after the Argentine picks up the ball in a pocket of space, but he snatches at his effort slightly and sends it flying several yards wide of the far post.
46'
We're underway once again!
45' +1
Ball after ball is flung into the heart of the Wolves box as City desperately try to find a way in front, but each cross is brilliantly dealt with by the visitors before they are eventually awarded a free-kick for a foul on Coady.
45'
The fourth official has indicated that there will be just one minute of added time.
44'
What an opportunity for Enobakhare! A thumping pass forward from Bennett should be easily dealt with by Mangala, but the Frenchman completely fails to clear the ball and allows Enobakhare to break into the box. The youngster goes one-on-one with Bravo and tries to slot a low shot to the right of the goalkeeper, but the Chilean sticks out a foot to deal with the danger.
42'
Gundogan charges forward on a marauding run before being clattered into a few yards outside of the Wolves penalty area, leaving the referee with no choice but to award City a free-kick in a promising position. It's Toure who steps up and shoots, but his curling effort is totally overhit and sails over the crossbar.
40'
Another great chance for Aguero! A lovely pass from Gundogan flies over the top of the Wolves back line and over to Sterling on the right-hand side of the box. The forward quickly knocks a clever half-volleyed cross into the path of Aguero, who meets the ball well but can't guide his first-time strike on target.
38'
There's a brief break in play after Jesus goes down off the ball just outside of the Wolves box. There was a slight coming together between the Brazilian and Bennett as he tried to dart into the penalty area, but there wasn't enough in it to penalise the defender and play eventually resumes after the forward can get back to his feet.
36'
Another chance for Aguero! The Argentine really is trying hard to break the City scoring record. This time he manages to spin round his marker just outside of the Wolves penalty area before shooting, but his rocket of a strike is sent straight at Norris and fails to get the better of the goalkeeper.
35'
Vital interception by Norris! A low cross from Zinchenko looks set to loop onto the head of Aguero right in front of goal after being deflected up into the air, but Norris is just about able to punch the ball away from the striker at the last possible moment.
33'
And now Enobakhare goes close! City immediately lose possession from the restart and manage to bring Enobakhare into the game just outside of the hosts' box. The striker spins and tries to chip Bravo with a cheeky effort, but it's slightly overhit and sails high over the crossbar.
32'
Big chance for Bennett! Marshall steps up and curls a cross right onto the head of Bennett at the far post. The defender rises high and does well to test Bravo, but the Chilean pulls off a decent diving save to deny Wolves the opening goal.
31'
Helder Costa, who's barely seen any of the ball so far this evening, picks up possession over on the right wing and is clumsily clattered into by Mangala, resulting in a free-kick for Wolves in a promising position. Can they make it count and carve out their first chance on goal?
29'
A clever pass from Danilo perfectly picks out Sterling near the byline, but, not for the first time tonight, Hause is there to deflect the ball behind for a corner. The set-piece is sent in low and almost manages to pick out Gabriel Jesus, who darts towards the near post but can't quite latch onto the cross.
27'
Toure muscles his way through a sea of midfielders and does well to penetrate the left-hand side of the visitors' box. He then tries to tee up Aguero with a quick cut-back, but, once again, the Wolves defence do really well to frustrate the Argentine.
25'
What an opportunity for Sterling to open the scoring! A lovely pass from Gundogan penentrates the Wolves penalty area and picks out Sterling over on the right-hand side. The forward takes a quick touch and then tries to slot a toe-poked strike into the far corner of the net, but he's put off by Conor Coady at the last possible moment and his effort bobbles wide of the post.
24'
Slightly sloppy play by the Wolves back line almost allows both Aguero and Toure to break into the visitors' box in quick succession, but they can't quite get a shot away and Hause is eventually able to blast the ball away from danger at the vital moment.
22'
Another City attack fails to result in a chance on goal and allows Wolves to break forward swiftly. N'Diaye charges through the middle of the pitch on a marauding run before trying to set up Bright Enobakhare on the edge of the penalty area, but Claudio Bravo reads the danger well and is there to meet the ball.
20'
Ruben Vinagre loses possession over on the left wing as he tries to break away quickly, allowing City to hit Wolves on a counter-attack. Sterling cuts inside and immediately slots a through-ball into the visitors' box, but it's slightly overhit and rolls straight into the hands of Norris.
18'
Danilo manages to get himself into a good position out wide once again as City push forward on yet another attacking move, but this time his volleyed cross fails to pick out Aguero in front of goal and is just about dealt with by the visitors.
16'
Wolves are firmly operating with a rigid and well-organised back five as they try to keep the determined home side at bay. They seem perfectly happy to sit back and soak up pressure before counter-attacking quickly, and it looks to be a tactic that they'll continue throughout the night.
14'
A blocked pass deflects off Kortney Hause and into the path of Danilo, who tries to cross from the right-hand side of the Wolves penalty area but has to settle for a corner. The set-piece is sent short and worked over to Oleksandr Zinchenko, who quickly shoots but can't guide his effort through the sea of defenders camped in front of him.
12'
Another chance for Aguero! City are absolutely dominating possession as they continue putting Wolves under plenty of pressure. A cross in from Aguero fails to find a team-mate but bounces back out to the Argentine, who quickly unleashes a rocket of a shot that sails a few yards over the top of the crossbar.
10'
Huge opportunity for Aguero! Lovely play by Yaya Toure and Gundogan sets up Sterling to fire a low cross into the Wolves penalty area from deep down the right wing. The pass is a good one and perfectly picks out Aguero, but the striker ends up scuffing his first-time effort just wide of the far post.
8'
Vital interception by Eliaquim Mangala! City lose possession on the halfway line and allow their visitors to fly forward on a quick counter-attack. Ben Marshall sprints into space over on the right flank and tries to square a low pass into the home side's penalty area, but Mangala is just about able to get back and deal with the danger at the vital moment.
6'
Early chance for Sergio Aguero! The Argentine is left all just outside of the Wolves box and manages to get a shot away, but his thumping strike is well saved by Will Norris and fails to result in him breaking the all-time City goalscoring record.
4'
City keep patiently working the ball around as they comfortably boss possession. Raheem Sterling then bursts down the right wing and into a pocket of space out wide, but Alfred N'Diaye does well to dart across the pitch and dispossess the forward with a well-timed sliding tackle.
2'
There are half-hearted appeals for a penalty from the home side after Ilkay Gundogan is barged to the ground by Ryan Bennett inside the Wolves penalty area, but the referee isn't at all interested and waves play on.
1'
We're off! Wolves get us underway, attacking from right to left.
Good evening and welcome to our live text commentary of today’s Carabao Cup game between Manchester City and Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Etihad Stadium.
It’s been a near-perfect start to the domestic season for City, who have already managed to open up a five-point gap at the top of the Premier League table. Pep Guardiola’s men have been in excellent form recently, with all of their previous 11 games ending in victories, and up front they’ve been absolutely devastating, with 37 goals being scored during the same period.
With Gabriel Jesus and Sergio Aguero both set to set to start tonight, it could be another high-scoring affair for a City side that show no signs of slowing down. It wasn’t the easiest of games in the last round of the competition, however, as West Bromwich Albion went close to getting the better of their opponents in a 2-1 defeat at the Hawthorns, but since then the unbeaten Sky Blues have failed to win by at least one goal on only two occasions.
Wolves could cause a few problems for their Premier League opponents though, as they too have enjoyed an excellent start to the new campaign. Nine wins from 13 games has sent them straight to the top of the Championship table, and they head into tonight’s big clash searching for their fourth consecutive victory after seeing off Preston North End on the weekend.
Unsurprisingly, City have dominated this fixture in recent times, with Wolves managing to beat the Citizens on only one occasion in the last 13 years. The two teams met one another at this exact stage of the competition almost six years ago, and, despite going behind early on, it was City who managed to come away with a comprehensive 5-2 victory on their way to the semi-finals.
There’s just under 15 minutes left to go until kick-off, so let’s have a look at how the two teams will be lining up this evening…
Manchester City substitutes: Ederson, Walker, Stones, Delph, De Bruyne, Sane, Nmecha.
Manchester City XI (4-4-2): Bravo; Danilo, Adarabioyo, Mangala, Zinchenko; Sterling, Toure, Gundogan, Bernardo Silva; Jesus, Aguero.
The two sides are making their way out onto the pitch, with just a few minutes to go until kick-off.
Pep Guardiola has decided to make nine changes to the City side that started the win at home to Burnley on the weekend, with Claudio Bravo, Danilo, Tosin Aderabioyo, Eliaquim Mangala, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Raheem Sterling, Yaya Toure, Ilkay Gundogan and Gabriel Jesus coming into the starting line-up to replace Ederson, Kyle Walker, John Stones, Nicolas Otamendi, Fabian Delph, Kevin De Bruyne, Fernandinho, David Silva and Leroy Sane, respectively.
Meanwhile, Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo has also made nine alterations to the team that featured in their last outing, with John Ruddy, Roderick, Matt Doherty, Ruben Neves, Romain Saiss, Barry Douglas, Ivan Cavaleiro, Leo Bonatini and Diogo Jota making way for Will Norris, Kortney Hause, Ryan Bennett, Alfred N’Diaye, Jack Price, Ruben Vinagre, Ben Marshall, Bright Enobakhare and Helder Costa.
HALF-TIME: MANCHESTER CITY 0-0 WOLVERHAMPTON WANDERERS
City have certainly been the better of the two sides so far but they haven't quite done enough to break a determined and well-organised Wolves back line. The Championship side have sat deep and done well to soak up the pressure before hitting their opponents on the counter-attack, with Enobakhare looking dangerous when taking on Mangala. At the other end, Aguero has arguably been the hosts' best player, with a few of his attempts on goal forcing Norris into making decent saves.
The two teams are making their way back out on to the pitch ahead of the start of the second half. Neither side have made any substitutions during the half-time break.
The referee blows his whistle, and it's off to extra-time we go!
Halfway through extra-time and City still haven't managed to find the back of the net. Wolves have defended brilliantly so far and are now just 15 minutes away from taking the Premier League leaders to penalties. What an achievement that would be!
It's off to penalties we go!
Wolves have done incredibly well to hold off a determined City side for 120 minutes, and a place in the quarter-finals now comes down to penalties. The Championship leaders look absolutely shattered, and it's no wonder why, but they certainly deserve this chance to reach the final eight after putting in such an impressive shift to frustrate their opponents.
GOAL! Bonatini goes first and coolly slots a lovely penalty into the bottom right-hand corner of the net to put Wolves in front.
GOAL! Norris dives the right way but can't quite reach De Bruyne's powerful strike into the left-hand side of the goal.
GOAL! A brilliant strike from Toure easily finds the top left-hand corner of the net to make it 2-1 to City.
MISS! N'Diaye slips as he tries to beat Bravo to the goalkeeper's right, and the Chilean guesses right to deny the midfielder.
GOAL! Sane makes it 3-1 to the hosts with a thumping strike finds the back of the net via the underside of the crossbar.
MISS! Bravo follows up his save with another one as he guesses right once again to get the better of Coady. Advantage City!
GOAL! Aguero fires City into the quarter-finals with a cheeky Panenka that leaves Norris with no chance. What a way to confirm the win!
It's City who have made it into the final eight of the Carabao Cup after finally managing to get the better of an incredibly hard-working Wolves side. The Championship leaders fought brilliantly throughout and went incredibly close to getting the better of their world-class opponents, but in the end they weren't able to get the better of Bravo, who was in excellent form during the penalty shootout.
