And we're under way!
Good afternoon and welcome to our live text commentary of today’s Premier League game between Hull City and Sunderland at the KCOM Stadium.
A big game today for Hull against an already relegated Sunderland side could see them climb five points clear of relegation if they win today; a result which would heap the pressure on Swansea City, who play later today in the evening kick-off.
The Tigers have been impressive at home under Marco Silva, where they sit unbeaten in their last nine home league games, last losing at the KCOM to Manchester City in December.
Their opponents could prove to be tricky opposition however, as David Moyes side will be looking for some momentum to take into the Championship with them next season. The pressure of relegation is off Sunderland after their defeat to Bournemouth sealed their fate, so we could see a different side to them today.
The Black Cats dismal season record stands against them however as they have only won five games all season, picking up a miserably two points in their last 10 games.
There is just over 15 minutes until kick-off, so let’s take a look at how the teams will be lining up today.
Hull City XI (4-4-2): Jakupovic; Elmohamady, Ronacchia, Maguire, Robertson; Markovic, N’Diaye, Clucas, Grosicki; Hernandez, Niasse.
One change to the starting line-up for Hull as Abel Hernandez replaces Evendro Goebel, who drops to the bench. Dieumerci Mbokani makes the bench after returning from a hamstring injury that sidelined him for two games.
Jason Denayer and Billy Jones both return from injury and start today’s game for Sunderland. Sebastian Larsson has completed his three-match ban and makes the bench today for Moyes’ side.
Both sides are out on the pitch, with just a few minutes to go until kick-off...
HALF-TIME: HULL CITY 0 - 0 SUNDERLAND
Both teams are back out on the pitch for the second-half. No changes for either side at half-time.
FULL-TIME: Hull City 0 - 2 Sunderland
A much livelier second-half saw Sunderland come more into the game. Hull continued to look the more threatening side but just lacked the quality in the final third to hurt the Black Cats. In the end, clinical finishes from Billy Jones and Jermain Defoe, both from set-pieces, were enough to see Sunderland win only their sixth Premier League game of the season.
Hull City have edged the first half slightly against Sunderland, who have put up a spirited fight so far. The Tigers have had the better chances and looked far more threatening than their opponents but both teams have lacked the cutting edge in the final third to get that all important opening goal.
