We can win Serie A, says Piris
Roma's latest recruit Ivan Piris believes his new club have the quality to challenge for the Serie A title this season.
The right-back secured a loan move to the Stadio Olimpico from Paraguayan outfit Deportivo Maldonado, with a view to a four million Euro permanent transfer at the end of the 2012-13 season.
"Now I am here and ready for a new adventure in a new league. I want to do well," he said.
"I'm happy to be here and I think that with the great squad we have got, we have a good chance of winning something."
The Paraguay international has been impressed by the Giallorossi set-up in his short time at the club and hopes to live up to the standards set by his esteemed team-mates.
"(Francesco) Totti is Roma's talisman – he's one of the best players I've ever seen in action. Then there's a youngster with enormous promise in (Erik) Lamela and a very experienced player such as (Nicolas) Burdisso, who are both South American like me.
"It's an honour for me to be training and playing alongside all of them."
Roma have spent 32.5m Euros in the summer transfer window, bringing in major signings such as Mattia Destro from Genoa and Italian international Federico Balzaretti from Palermo.
