England beat the Netherlands 2-1

England have advanced to the final of this year's UEFA Women's Championship, beating tournament revelations the Netherlands 2-1 after extra time.

The English, clear favorites for this match, had difficulties finding a hole in the Dutch defense in the first half but did take the lead one minute after the hour.

Aluko cut back from the left and Kelly Smith struck past keeper Loes Geurts for 1-0.

Some three minutes later the Netherlands had already equalised though, as Marlous Pieëte beat the keeper after a low cross from Manon Melis.

The winning goal came with just four minutes to go in extra time, allowing England to avoid a penalty shoot-out. Carney took a corner kick and Jill Scott rose to head it in between Geurts' gloves, 2-1.

In the final, England will face either defending champions Germany or Norway.
