Kelly Smith scored the winning goal for England

England are still alive in at the UEFA Women's Championship, following a 3-2 victory over Russia in their second group game.

After losing the opening match to Italy, England needed a much better result against the Russians. Instead, Russia were the ones to take an early comfortable lead.

After two minutes at Helsinki Football Stadium, Ksenia Tsybutovich headed Russia to a 1-0 lead and an Olesya Kurochkina strike made it 2-0 in minute 22.

But the English soon recovered. Karen Carney pulled one back two minutes after Russia's second goal, and Eniola Aluko levelled the score eight minutes later.

The winning goal came with three minutes left in the first half, as Kelly Smith delivered a great volley from about 35 meters to beat keeper Kochneva and earn her team three extremely valuable points.
