TRONDHEIM, Sep 30 (SW) – The number one and two of the Norwegian Toppserien today played against each other in the semi finals of the Norwegian Cup. Trondheims Orn lost surprisingly at home against Roa IL. A goal of Lene Mykjaland made the difference.
Trondheims Orn had a huge chance at the start of the first half, when a header by Trine Nordgard Stensaas is spectacularly saved by the Roa goalkeeper, Silje Vesterbekkmo. After that it was Roa that dominated the game for the rest of the first half, without creating much scoring chances. So half time was reached with a 0-0 result. Trondheims Orn opened the second half in the same way as the first with a giant double-chance by Kristin Lie and Unni Lehn, but Silje Vesterbekkmo saved both attempts. Orn plays a better second half all in all, but Roa scores the game-winning goal by Lene Mykjaland after a huge defensive mistake by Orn. Orn's goalkeeper, Ingrid Hjelmseth, is out of goal to catch a ball, but one of the other defenders kicks the ball away. It goes straight to Lene Mykjaland of Roa, who places the ball easily into the more or less open goal. All in all a very tough and even game, which was decided by a defensive mistake of the home team. Roa meets either Floya or Asker in the cup final on November 11. Trondheims Orn – Roa IL 0-1 (0-0) Attendance: 447 Goal: 63. Lene Mykjaland 0-1 |
