ZEIST, Oct 12 (SW) - A goal just before half time by Brazilian international Marta da Silva decided the UEFA Women's Cup quarterfinal between Saestum and Umea. Saestum was nowhere during the second half and lost 1-6 in the end.

Umea IK dominated the first twenty minutes. After only three minutes Hanna Ljungberg broke the offside trap, but defender Loes Smeets saved from the line. Four minutes later Sanna Valkonen fired in from close range, with Saestum keeper Angela Christ making a tremendous save.

The deserved goal was finally there in the 8th minute. A long ball found Hanna Ljungberg, who tipped the ball through the legs of Christ: 0-1.

The Swedish storm calmed after twenty minutes, and Saestum got more and more changes. First Joniek Bonnes headed just wide, then Lisanne Vermeulen hit the bar of the Umea goal with a flaming shot from twenty meters.

Just before half time it was Umea IK again on the offensive. Marta won the duel with Renee de Vries and passed the ball just wide of the left post. A moment later Umea put the game beyond doubt. Hanna Ljungberg passed to Marta, the Brazilian star sailed past three Saestum defenders including the keeper: 0-2.

The second half was an all Umea game. On 61 minutes Malin Mostrom curled the ball towards the goal. It was saved by Angela Christ, but got back in the field. In the end it was Hanna Ljungberg to volley home. One minute later it was a smashing solo of Marta from the midfield that made it 0-4. After the 0-5 of Ljungberg and the 0-6 of Anna Sjostrom it was Shirley Smith who lobbed one back for Saestum to make it a 1-6 end result.
