10 players released by Man City.

MANCHESTER, May 11 (SW) - Stuart Pearce has begun the process of re-building his squad for next year, by releasing 10 players from the club, amongst them Frenchman David Sommeil.

Also listed are regular first team players Albert Riera and Kiki Musampa, who will not have their contracts renewed.

Sommeil, signed for £3.4 million from Bordeaux in 2003, has struggled to find his form this season after injury troubles, and has only made 14 first team appearances.

Loan signing Kizito (Kiki) Musampa may feel somewhat surprised by his failure to achieve an extended contract. After 27 appearances this year, the 27-year-old won the Thomas Cook Player of the Month award for February 2006.

Also on the ‘out’ list is Albert Riera, who arrived on-loan from Espanyol in January this year. At the time of his loan he was told there would be the chance of a permanent move at the end of the season, but Pearce seems now to have declined this option.

Also on the list for release are Goalkeeper Geert de Vlieger, Danish defender Mikkel Bischoff, Finnish international midfielder Tuomas Haapala and reserve team players

Ian Bennett, Karl Bermingham, Paul Collins and Michael Ward.

Pearce has said that he intends to make 3 or 4 major signings in replacement during the close season, as well as hoping to augment the team with players from City’s youth squad.
