MUNICH, Mar 16 (SW) - German international and Bayern Munich midfielder Sebastian Deisler injured his right knee in practice on Tuesday and, following medical consultations, is confirmed to be sidelined for an indefinite period. The 26-year-old will certainly miss Bayern’s key Bundesliga match against Schalke 04 on Sunday and the Wednesday, March 22, international friendly against the USA.
"We don't have a precise diagnosis, so we can't say how long we'll be without Sebastian," Bayern coach Felix Magath commented at practice on Wednesday.
Deisler’s right knee has been a nagging concern for the German international, as he has twice suffered cruciate ligament damage, dislocated the knee cap and undergone surgery to remove damaged cartilage tissue.
Deisler has travelled to the USA for consultations, meeting with the same surgeon who has performed the previous two operations on his knee.
