FRANKFURT, June 10 (SW) - Paraguay goalkeeper Justo Villar will miss the rest of the World Cup tournament due to the injury sustained during the World Cup opener against England on Saturday.

Villar had been on the pitch for just 8 minutes before limping off with a torn thigh muscle and had already been ruled out of the next 2 matches. But scans have now revealed the true extent of the injury.

Team doctor Osvaldo Pangrazio explained the results of the scan, saying,

"It shows a very serious tear that will take him four weeks to get over.

"It's a five-centimetre tear, with a haematoma of more than 10 centimetres. It's a serious injury," Pangrazio explained.

Villar, who plays for Argentine club Newell's Old Boys, was replaced by Aldo Bobadilla.who performed well for the rest of the match and looks certain to be Villar’s replacement.
