LEIPZIG, Jun 11 (SW) - Welcome to SoccerWay.com's live coverage of the World Cup Group C match between Serbia & Montenegro and the Netherlands from Zentralstadion in Leipzig.
FULL-TIME The Netherlands earn their first three points of the tournament, successfully defending their 1-0 lead. The only goal of the match came from Arjen Robben in the 18th minute. 90th minute - Serbia & Montenegro booking Booked: 6 Gavrancic The defender blocks Arjen Robben, and gets his team's fourth yellow card. 89th minute Robben continues to be dangerous for the Dutch, and the Chelsea winger again only just misses the target with a low strike. 86th minute - Netherlands substitution On: 3 - Boulahrouz Off : 4 - Mathijsen Joris Mathijsen can't continue after all and is taken off for Hamburg defender Khalid Boulahrouz. 85th minute - Netherlands booking Booked: 14 - Heitinga Johnny Heitinga receives his side's second yellow card for time-wasting. 82nd minute The following free kick is dangerous. Van Persie's low strike goes centimeters wide of the left post. 81st minute - Serbia & Montenegro booking Booked: 3 - Dragutinovic Ivica Dragutinovic is booked for a foul on Robin van Persie, who came down the right wing. The fourth card of the match, and the third for Serbia. 78th minute Arjen Robben gets past a few defenders but his following strike goes about two meters wide of the right post. 72nd minute Both Van der Sar and Joris Mathijsen are down in the pitch receiving treatment, but the keeper and his defender are able to play on. 71st minute Another dangerous moment for Van der Sar. Koroman fires a fast shot at the goalkeeper, who does well to save. 69th minute - Netherlands substitution On: 7 - Kuyt Off: 9 - Van Nistelrooy It's not Van Nistelrooy's day and the striker is subbed off for Dirk Kuyt. The Feyenoord forward lost his starting position to Robin van Persie, but is now back in action. 67th minute - Serbia & Montenegro substitution On: 21 - Ljuboja Off: 8 - Mateja Kezman That's another starting striking off for Serbia. Kezman makes way for Danijel Ljuboja. 64th minute - Serbia & Montenegro booking Booked: 7 - Koroman Koroman is fouled by Heitinga and wants a yellow card. He gets it, but for himself due to bad sportsmanship. 60th minute - Netherlands substitution Off: 18 - Van Bommel On: 6 - Landzaat Denny Landzaat replaces Mark van Bommel, in what is Van Basten's first change of the match. 59th minute The Serbs pressurize the Dutch defense and force Ooijer to head the ball over his own goal. However, referee Mark had already whistled for dangerous play. 56th minute - Netherlands booking Booked: 5 - Van Bronckhorst FC Barcelona left back 'Gio' van Bronckhorst is booked for a foul on the still very active Ognjen Koroman. 55th minute The Netherlands have a free kick at about 22 meters from the goal. Wesley Sneijder's strike is not much more than a cross, and Robben fails to turn around the ball to shoot. 54th minute The ball goes from one side to the other now but good chances are lacking for the moment. 46th minute - Serbia & Montenegro substitution Off: 9 - Milosevic On: 19 - Zigic A somewhat surprising move by coach Petkovic, who takes off captain Milosevic for Nikola Zigic. HALF-TIME The first half is over at the Zentralstadion and the Dutch lead 0-1 thanks to a goal from Arjen Robben in the 18th minute. But Marco van Basten's men cannot relax in the second half as Serbia & Montenegro had their chances as well, and will aim to score a quick equalizer after the break. 45th minute + 2 Koroman proves to be dangerous as the substitute strikes wide of the right post. 43rd minute - Serbia & Montenegro substitution On: 7 - Koroman Off: 14 N. Djordjevic There is Koroman after all, replacing the 'other' Djordjevic, Nenad, to give the Serbs more offensive strength. 37th minute A surprisingly dangerous moment for the Serb defense as a low shot from Arjen Robben curves towards the goal but goes just wide. 35th minute - Serbia & Montenegro booking Booked: 10 - Stankovic Dejan Stankovic is handed the first yellow card of the match after a foul on John Heitinga. 31st minute But the Dutch are quite willing to score a second too and increase the gap. Robin van Persie heads on goal but Jevric stands in the right place. 30th minute Serbia still try to find that equalizer. A header from Kezman goes just wide where Van der Sar would probably have been beaten. 22nd minute Arjen Robben seems relieved after his goal, and now forces Jevric to make a good save with a well aimed distance shot. 18th minute - GOAL NETHERLANDS! (0-1) Goal: 11 - Robben But the opening goal is for the Netherlands as Robin van Persie's high pass finds Arjen Robben, who storms towards the goal and strikes past goalkeeper Dragoslav Jevric for 0-1. 15th minute The Serbs are now the stronger side as Stankovic delivers a shot on goal, but again it's aimed straight at the keeper. The Dutch defense is not looking very strong for the moment. 13th minute The first real chance comes three minutes later, when Predrag Djordjevic gets past Heitinga to enter the Dutch penalty area, but his following pass is missed by both attack and defense. 10th minute Serbia get a free kick on the left wing, which could be the first dangerous moment of the match but Dejan Stankovic' strike goes straight for Van der Sar. 5th minute A calm start in Leipzig, as the Dutch take the initiative but get no space from a defensive Serbia & Montenegro. Kick-off The Netherlands kick off and another two countries begin their 2006 World Cup adventure. Pre-Game The Serbs start without Ognjen Koroman, who was expected to play in midfield. Instead, coach Ilija Petkovic selected Predrag Djordjevic.
