ASKER, Jan 26 (SW) - The Asker situation is still not settled, and there seems to be a bit confusion about what happens next. Norwegian Football Federation's information director Roger Solheim says that the decision to relegate Asker is final, and that the decision has been taken according to the established procedures. This decision seems to be based on the fact that Asker was still in depth on January 1st, even though they had raised much money after this.
NFF’s president Sondre Kåfjord, currently following the men's national team in USA, on the other hand, said there still is a possibility that the NFF board will reverse the decision and give the Toppserien spot back to Asker, if they can prove that the financial problems has been solved. The board meeting is on Monday.
According to Solheim, a board reversing the decision would mean that they will abandon all the established formal procedures. Solheim states that this has never happened before. So Asker still has a bit hope. Particularly since they were able to raise a lot of money from the local business community yesterday evening.
