KUOPIO, Apr 9 (SW) – Newcomers Aland United from the Swedish speaking Aland Islands have started their season extremely well by winning with 0-4 at last years SM Naisten number five KMF Kuopio. A combination of poor defending and a bad goal kick led to the disaster 0-4 defeat of KMF.

Before a good crowd of 220 spectators in the Magnum Areena the game had a slow start, nothing special seemed to happen in the first half. At 40 minutes KMF wasted the only good opportunity to go 1-0 in front.

Aland took the initiative in the second half. Shortly after Annica Sjölund (last year FC United Pietarsaari) was substituted in, a failed KMF goal kick landed to her. Sjölund spurted away only to get tripped from behind by a KMF-defender. A penalty was awarded, which Daniela Haglund converted to 0-1 easily.

KMF did have a few chances, but Aland was in total control. KMF managed to score, but the celebration was premature - offside. Sjölund continued to harass the KMF defensive line and broke off to score two more for Aland. Mathilda Morn finalized the 0-4 to Aland.
