LIEGE, Oct 9 (SW) - The win of Standard Liège against the number one in the Belgian league Rapide Wezemaal was a welcome surprise. But teams are now even again on the table, with both fifteen points from six matches.

Standard came deserved in front early in the game by a free kick just under the bar by Isabelle Ebhodaghe. On the half hour spot the women from Liège almost scored 2-0, but Rapide goalkeeper Inge Heiremans saved from the line. Before halftime Rapides Femke Maes hit the bar with a header.

The second part of the game saw Rapide pushing hard without result. Standard was defending fiercely and held on till the final whistle. Especially goalkeeper Marjory Guiset and defender Jessica Bijnens had sublime performances.
