Dembele catches Marcelo with a slightly late challenge, and Madrid are awarded a free-kick. It's sent short and worked down the left wing, where Asensio whips a cross over to the far post but can't quite pick out a team-mate. That should be that for Tottenham.
90' +1

88'
Alli is clattered into from behind by Ramos, leaving the referee with no choice but to awarded Tottenham a free-kick out wide. Unsurprisingly, they take their time with the set-piece, and Trippier eventually curls in a poor cross that fails to find a team-mate inside the box.

82'
Marcelo receives the ball in a pocket of space 25 yards away from goal and quickly shoots, but his effort is easily blocked by Sanchez inside the Tottenham box. The ball then rolls over to Casemiro, who unleashes a strike from a similar distance but can't beat Lloris with his low effort.

T. Hernández enters the game and replaces L. Modrić.
Madrid have made their third and final switch, with Modric making way for Theo Hernandez.

Cristiano Ronaldo has scored a goal for Real Madrid! Assist by Borja Mayoral.
That was good play by Mayoral, who got himself in the thick of the action inside the penalty area before setting up Ronaldo to shoot. Some of the home players appealed to the referee for a free-kick after claiming that the ball rolled off Marcelo's arm in the build-up, but the referee isn't at all interested.
GOAL! Ronaldo have pulled one back! A deep cross from Hakimi fails to pick out a team-mate in the heart of the penalty area but bounces over to Marcelo. His misplaced pass across goal deflects off a white shirt and towards Mayoral, who quickly tees up Ronaldo to beat Lloris from close range with a first-time strike. Game on?

The visitors patiently work the ball from one flank to the other as they desperately try to find an opening, but they're unable to make a way through the sea of white shirts camped in front of them and a heavy touch from Kroos gifts possession back to Tottenham.
75'
Madrid patiently pass the ball around deep inside the Tottenham half of the pitch before Marcelo launches a cross-field pass over to the right flank. It's poorly hit by the Brazilian, however, and Hakimi isn't able to keep the ball from bouncing behind for a goal-kick.

Madrid have decided to make a double substitution as they try to find a way back into the game. The first player to come on is Marco Asensio, who replaces Isco.

That was really good play by Kane to spin and perfectly pick out Eriksen, but, once again, Madrid were all over the place on the break and were comfortably torn apart by the home side.
GOAL! Tottenham have scored once again! An attempted Madrid attack fails to come to anything, allowing Tottenham to counter-attack quickly. Alli does brilliantly to burst forward before setting up Kane, who then picks out Eriksen with a lovely pass and sets up the Dane to easily beat Casilla from just inside the box. Liquid football!
64'
Madrid are continuing to pile every available body forward, but they're leaving themselves completely exposed at the back. For Tottenham, all they now need to do is sit back, soak up the pressure and hit their opponents on quick counter-attacks.
62'
Almighty goalmouth scramble! The ball pinballs around the hosts' box after a Madrid corner isn't fully dealt with. Somehow, the visitors can't find the back of the net, with two attempted shots being blocked by white shirts before Ronaldo gets in the way of Ramos' effort. It just isn't their night!

Almost a chance for Ronaldo! A looping cross from Marcelo flies into the heart of the Tottenham penalty area and looks set to find Ronaldo, but the Portuguese can't quite latch onto the ball and misses making contact by the narrowest of margins.

56'
D. Alli has scored a goal for Tottenham Hotspur! Assist by E. Dier.
It was Dier who set up Alli with a clever pass forward, but Madrid really should have done better defensively. Once again, they left Alli in far too much space and made life easy for the Tottenham attacking midfielder.
GOAL! It's 2-0 to Tottenham! Not for the first time tonight, Alli is left in far too much space just outside of the Madrid penalty area. 49'

45'
Madrid are almost undone by poor defending once again. This time it's a deft flick from Sissoko that penetrates the penalty area before falling to Alli, who tries to beat Casemiro to the ball but loses out to the Brazilian. There are half-hearted pleas for a penalty from the home fans but the referee isn't at all interested and waves play on.
44'
This doesn't look good for Davies, who has gone down off the ball and is the latest Tottenham player to look as if he's picked up an injury. He hobbles off to the side of the pitch and looks as if he's going to try and patch himself up until half-time. Mauricio Pochettino won't want to have to make another substitution.
43'
Space opens up for Hakimi, allowing the young full-back to burst down the right flank and cut a decent pass back to Benzema. The striker quickly shoots from the edge of the box, but his effort is sent straight into the hands of Lloris in the middle of the goal.

35'
Madrid win themselves another corner after a low shot from a tight angle by Marcelo deflects off Trippier and into the side-netting. The cross in from the set-piece isn't a particularly good one, however, and Lloris is easily able to collect the ball under very little pressure.
33'

30'
Excellent save by Hugo Lloris! Casemiro picks up the ball over on the left-hand side of the Tottenham penalty area as Madrid push forward once again. He gets the better of Trippier and then unleashes a thumping low strike, but Lloris is there to stop the effort with a diving save at the far post.

27'
D. Alli has scored a goal for Tottenham Hotspur! Assist by K. Trippier.
Once again, Trippier caused all sorts of problems after being left in acres of space on the edge of the box. Madrid have looked all over the place at the back so far!
GOAL! Tottenham have taken a well-deserved lead! Another brilliant cross-field pass sails over to the right-hand side of the Madrid box and picks out Trippier. The wing-back immediately sends another brilliant ball into the penalty area, where Alli beats both Nacho and Casilla to the ball before poking it into the back of the net from close range.
26'
Great play by Kane! Alli picks up the ball in plenty of space once again and quickly tries to tee up Kane out wide. His pass is overhit and should be easily dealt with by Nacho, but the defender completely falls asleep and is put under plenty of pressure by the striker, forcing him into blasting the ball out of play for a throw-in.
24'
M. Sissoko enters the game and replaces T. Alderweireld.
Alderweireld will play no further part in the game, and he limps off to be replaced by Moussa Sissoko.
23'
Excellent interception by Vertonghen! Madrid try to make their numerical advantage count as Ronaldo bursts into the home side's box and tries to get a shot away, but Vertonghen is there to make sure he can't with a brilliant tackle at the last possible moment.
22'
Ouch! Things don't look good for Alderweireld, who darted into the right-hand side of the Madrid penalty area and took on Casemiro only to pull up and fall to the floor. He's dragged himself off the pitch and looks as if he's going to have to make way as soon as the ball goes out of play.
20'
And now Harry Winks go close! An absolutely terrible attempted clearance from Marcelo over on the right flank somehow flies into the box and towards Winks. The midfielder mishits his first attempted shot before unleashing another, but it's underhit and sails straight into the hands of Casilla.

18'
Alli is left in acres of space in the middle of the pitch, allowing him to easily latch onto a decent pass forward from Jan Vertonghen. It isn't dealt with particularly well by the midfielder but Trippier does well to keep the move alive, resulting in Eriksen winning a corner over on the right wing.
16'
Hakimi gets himself into a good position deep down the right flank and quickly chips a well-placed cross over to the far post. Karim Benzema rises high and tries his hardest to latch onto the ball, but he's unable to get the better of Toby Alderweireld and loses out the Belgian.
14'
Excellent play by Tottenham! Kane launches a beautiful cross-field pass that flies over to the right-hand side of the Madrid box and picks out Kieran Trippier. The wing-back immediately fires a brilliant volleyed cross towards the far post, but it misses Dele Alli by the narrowest of margins before bouncing behind.
12'
Opportunity for Kane! This time it's the striker who's able to get a shot away from the edge of the Madrid penalty area after Casemiro loses out on the halfway line. Ramos is easily beaten by Kane on his way towards the box, but the chipped strike from the number 10 is well saved by Kiko Casilla.
10'
Almost a great chance for Christian Eriksen! Sloppy play by Madrid gives the ball to Tottenham in the middle of the pitch, allowing them to counter-attack quickly. 5'
More determined play from Madrid results in a corner over on the left wing. It's swung in by Isco and manages to pick out Sergio Ramos, who rises high but can't guide his looping header towards goal under pressure from Davinson Sanchez.
3'

Cristiano Ronaldo picks up a deep Marcelo cross over on the right flank and spins before teeing up Isco, who then unleashes a low strike from 25 yards out that bounces into the hands of Hugo Lloris in the middle of the goal.

We're off! Madrid get us underway, attacking from right to left.
Good evening and welcome to our live text commentary of today’s Champions League group stage game between Tottenham Hotspur and Real Madrid at Wembley Stadium.
With the two sides tied on seven points heading into tonight’s huge clash, whoever comes away with a victory is likely to go on and win the group. Difficult and underwhelming Champions League campaigns for both Borussia Dortmund and APOEL have left them fighting over third place, already six points behind Tottenham and Madrid, meaning the battle for top spot is firmly a two-team affair.
Tottenham did extremely well to travel to the Bernabeu and pick up a deserved 1-1 draw, and they’ll be feeling confident about their chances of causing problems for their opponents once again this evening. They lost against Manchester United on the weekend in a tough game at Old Trafford but have certainly shown enough this season to suggest they deserve a place in the last-16.
After suffering an underwhelming start to the season, it looked as if Madrid were finally starting to get back on track when they travelled to Girona on Sunday. That hasn’t proved to be the case, however, as more questions were raised about Zinedine Zidane’s men after they slumped to a disastrous - and completely unexpected - 2-1 defeat, leaving them already eight points behind LaLiga leaders Barcelona.
Things have certainly been better for Madrid on the European stage thanks to an unbeaten run so far, but the defeat on the weekend will no doubt have knocked their confidence just as they looked to be returning to form. A positive performance is desperately needed this evening, not only to put themselves in a commanding position at the top of Group H but also to help them get back into the mix domestically.
Thanks to the six-point gap they currently enjoy over both Dortmund and APOEL, a victory for either side tonight will see them join Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich in reaching the knockout stage of the competition with two games still remaining. Both are already all but guaranteed to feature there, meaning this evening’s clash is concerned primarily with who will win the group.
There’s just under 15 minutes left to go until kick-off, so let’s have a look at how the two teams will be lining up this evening...
Real Madrid XI (4-3-1-2): Casilla; Hakimi, Nacho, Sergio Ramos, Marcelo; Modric, Casemiro, Kroos; Isco; Benzema, Ronaldo.
Tottenham Hotspur substitutes: Vorm, Aurier, Rose, Dembele, Sissoko, Son, Llorente.
Tottenham Hotspur XI (3-4-2-1): Lloris; Alderweireld, Sanchez, Vertonghen; Trippier, Winks, Dier, Davies; Eriksen, Alli; Kane.
Real Madrid substitutes: Moha Ramos, Vallejo, Theo, Ceballos, Vazquez, Mayoral.
Mauricio Pochettino has decided to make three changes to the Tottenham side that started the draw against Madrid two weeks ago, with Kieran Trippier, Ben Davies and Dele Alli coming into the starting line-up to replace Serge Aurier, Moussa Sissoko and Fernando Llorente.
Meanwhile, Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane has made just two alterations to the team that featured at the Bernabeu, with Keylor Navas and Raphael Varane making way for Kiko Casilla and Nacho.
The two sides are making their way out onto the pitch, with just a few minutes to go until kick-off.
HALF-TIME: TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR 1-0 REAL MADRID
So far, so good for Tottenham, who head into the half-time break with a well-deserved one-goal lead. They've certainly been the better of the two sides so far, with Madrid looking far too open at the back. Ronaldo and Benzema have had a couple of sniffs on goal but, overall, they've struggled to cause too many problems for the hosts' back line, leaving Lloris relatively untested.
The two teams are making their way back out on to the pitch ahead of the start of the second half. Neither side have made any substitutions during the half-time break.
What a win for Tottenham! It's a night they won't forget for a long, long time, and it's a victory that has confirmed their place in the knockout stage of the Champions League for the first time since 2011. They thoroughly deserved to win, as Madrid constantly looked all over the place at the back, allowing them to be constantly overrun on the break.
For Madrid, this is another very worrying defeat. The loss leaves them with plenty to do in their final two group stage games, despite the fact that they should comfortably make it into the last-16. It's one that will surely knock their already fragile confidence, and that could cause problems on the domestic stage as well as in the Champions League games to come.
