50'
The second half appears to be following a similar pattern as the first with AEK content to sit back and attempt to pick Milan off on the break. The Rossoneri will have to be careful of not leaving themselves vulnerable to a breakaway as they are already playing a very high defensive line.
49'

Locatelli tires his own long-range effort after some pin ball at the edge of the AEK box but his volley flies over.

Some nice skill by Suso, who look's Milan's sharpest player so far. He sells an AEK defender with a dummy and sets himself to shoot from 25 yards but is off-balance and his strike sails over the bar.
16'
The game is being played at a slow pace so far with AEK content to sit back and let Milan have posession in midfield.

We're off!
Good evening and welcome to our live text commentary of this evening’s Europa League Group D game between AC Milan and AEK Athens at the San Siro.
The Europa League has proved a welcome distraction for AC Milan this season following a stuttering start to their Serie A campaign. Vincenzo Montella is experiencing a difficult second campaign as Milan manager after winning the Supercoppa Italiana last season with his side losing four of their opening eight league games. Milan are currently 10th in the table with 12 points despite spending £160 million on 10 new recruits this summer including the purchase of ex-Juventus defender Leonardo Bonucci for £35 million.
The Rossoneri lost the Milan derby 3-2 to Inter on Sunday despite Spanish midfielder Suso netting his fourth goal of the campaign. But Milan have been rampant in their Europa League campaign so far with maximum points taken in their opening two fixtures against Austria Wien and Croatian side Rijeka respectively, scoring eight goals and conceding three in the process.
Milan come up against an AEK Athens side who have taken four points from their opening two fixtures following an opening 2-1 away win against Rijeka and a 2-2 draw at home to Austria Wien on matchday two where they needed a stoppage time equaliser from Croatian striker Marko Livaja to salvage a point. The Greek side finished fourth in the Superleague last season to qualify for the Europa League.
Manager Manuel Jimenez began his second spell in charge of the club last January after managing them between 2010-11. AEK are currently second in the Superleague on 14 points, a point behind leaders PAOK, and drew 1-1 away to Xanthi at the weekend.
There’s just under 15 minutes left to go until kick-off, so let’s have a look at how the two teams will be lining up this evening.
AC Milan XI (3-5-2): Donnarumma, Musacchio, Bonucci, Rodriguez, Calabria, Bonaventura, Calhanoglu, Suso, Locatelli, Silva, Cutrone.
AC Milan substitutes: Storari, Kalinic, Borini, Montolivo, Biglia, Paletta, Kessie.
Montella makes four changes to the side that lost to Inter on Sunday with Davide Calabria, Hakan Calhanoglu, Manuel Locatelli and Patrick Cutrone. On-loan Sunderland striker Fabio Borini is one of four players dropped to the bench.
Jimenez makes one change to his side with Helder Lopes coming in at left-wing back for midfielder Konstantinos Galanopoulos.
The two sides are making their way out onto the pitch, with just a few minutes to go until kick-off.
That's the last action of the first half. Milan have dominated possession but AEK have kept a compact shape and look a threat on the break. Andre Simoes almost gave the away side the lead after some terrible defending by Mateo Musacchio only for precocious goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma to make a fine save with his right leg. Milan are playing like a side under pressure and Vincenzo Montella will need more from his side in the second half to break down a spirited AEK defence.
The two teams are making their way back out on to the pitch ahead of the start of the second half.
FULL-TIME: AC MILAN 0-0 AEK ATHENS
The final whistle goes and AEK will leave Italy with a precious point after a dogged and impressive defensive display. They kept a compact shape to frustrate Milan and Giannis Anestis pulled off a magnificent 68th minute save to deny Patrick Cutrone. For Milan, it was another disappointing evening and will do little to ease the pressure on manager Vincenzo Montella. Milan stay top of Group D on 7 points, two ahead of AEK in second place on five. The two sides will meet in Athens for the reverse fixture in a fortnight.
