Matip launches a long ball forward and Moreno climbs above Eschenko to win the header, but there are no Liverpool players waiting to get on the end of the knock down and Selikhov comes out to gather the ball in.
90' +6
SAVE!!! What a save from Selikhov!! Liverpool just can’t find a way through. This time Alexander-Arnold picks out Salah with another fabulous cross from the right-hand side, only for the winger to see his powerful header palmed away by the substitute keeper. It was straight at him but it was still a superb reaction save.
90' +5
CHANCE!! Another wasted opportunity for Liverpool as Moreno slips a lovely pass into the path of Firmino inside the left-hand edge of the penalty area, but with Salah and Sturridge waiting for a tap-in in the middle, Firmino plays a poor ball behind the Egyptian and Spartak clear.
90' +3
Pedro Rocha enters the game and replaces A. Samedov.
Samedov does eventually leave the field and Pedro Rocha comes on in his place.
90' +2
Samedov is the latest Spartak player to go down, and once again there is a delay in him leaving the field as the players wait for the electric cart to come onto the pitch and take him off. Those eight minutes of added time will probably be more like 10 now.
90' +1
The fourth official has just indicated that there will be eight minutes of added time.
90'
WHAT A MISS FROM STURRIDGE!! Henderson floats a lovely angled ball towards Sturridge who is completely unmarked six yards out from goal at the back post, but he blasts his first-time volley over the bar. Jurgen Klopp looks pretty frustrated at the minute.
88'
Salah once again looks to pick out Sturridge but again the final ball is not good enough, this time the cross has too much on it and Selikhov comes out to punch the ball away with ease.
86'
CHANCE FOR STRURRIDGE!! Another chance passes for Liverpool as Sturridge controls Firmino’s flicked header six yards out from goal, before completely missing the ball with his shot, allowing Selikhov to come out and deny the striker.
85'
L. Melgarejo enters the game and replaces I. Popov.
Popov does leave the field with what looks to be a hamstring injury. Lorenzo Melgarejo is the man who comes on to replace him.
Firmino lifts the ball into Sturridge inside the penalty area and the striker turns and shoots, only to see his shot fizz wide of the left-hand post. The flag is up anyway though so the goal wouldn’t have stood.
Minute
Description
82'
Popov is down in the middle of the park and the medical staff are signalling to the bench that he’s not going to be able to continue. All these stoppages mean there will be plenty of added time at the end of this game.
80'
HUGE CHANCE!! A huge chance for Firmino as Fernando gives the ball away on the edge of his own penalty area, only for the Brazilian to snatch at the shot, firing his effort over the bar despite having plenty of time and space to work with.
79'
CLOSE!!! The Liverpool full-backs link up well as Moreno slides the ball across the face of the area and into the path of Alexander-Arnold on the right-hand edge of it, but having cut inside onto his left foot the right-back blasts the ball narrowly over the bar.
77'
Liverpool have just lost their intensity in the last ten minutes or so as Sturridge looks to dance his way into the Spartak penalty area to no avail.
75'
Roberto Firmino gets yellow.
Firmino goes into the book following a foul on Eschenko, a challenge made out of frustration more than anything else, although the Spartak defender certainly made the most of it once again.
73'
G. Wijnaldum enters the game and replaces E. Can.
Jurgen Klopp’s making his second change now and it’s Georginio Wijnaldum who's coming on for Can.
71'
Eschenko wins Spartak a free-kick on the right-hand side despite appearing to dive with virtually no contact from Coutinho, but Liverpool are then awarded a free-kick as Can in bundled to ground in the middle.
70'
D. Sturridge enters the game and replaces S. Mané.
Liverpool are also going to make their first change now with Daniel Sturridge coming on to replace Mane, who hasn’t played a huge amount of football lately following his domestic suspension.
68'
A. Selikhov enters the game and replaces A. Rebrov.
Rebrov leaves the pitch to a loud ovation from both sets of players and fans, and eventually, having taken an age to get himself ready, Aleksandr Selikhov comes on to replace him in the Spartak goal.
67'
Rebrov looks pretty distraught but he’s certainly not going to be able to continue as the mobile cart comes onto the pitch to take him off.
65'
Rebrov is down receiving treatment now and it doesn’t look like he’s going to be able to continue meaning Salah is made to wait to take a Liverpool corner.
63'
Alexander-Arnold gets to the byline once again and drives a low cross across the middle of the area, but it evades everyone and Spartak survive. Liverpool are in total control of this match now but they still aren’t creating too many clear cut openings.
61'
Liverpool work the ball patiently across midfield with Spartak sitting off them and allowing them to have the ball, but once again it’s the final ball that lets Liverpool down, Alexander-Arnold this time crossing the ball straight into Rebrov’s arms.
59'
Salah and Rebrov clashed as the Egyptian chased that ball and the Spartak keeper is now receiving treatment, prompting Jurgen Klopp to speak with the fourth official, perhaps feeling that he’s taking more time than he needs.
57'
CHANCE!!! Another chance for Liverpool as Mane breaks forward after Fernando had given the ball away cheaply in midfield, but Salah just can’t get on the end of his delicate through ball in the middle of the area, and Spartak escape once again.
55'
Save! Karius is called into action for the first time in this second half as Spartak work the ball wide to Andrei Eschenko on the right-hand corner of the penalty area and the wing-back strikes a powerful effort towards goal, forcing the Liverpool keeper into punching the ball away above his head.
53'
Save! Coutinho does go for goal and gets the ball up and over the wall, but Rebrov gets across and down well to turn the ball away and prevent it from creeping into the bottom corner.
52'
Coutinho wins yet another Liverpool free-kick 25 yards out from goal having been brought to ground by Fernando. The Brazilian gets back to his feet and will certainly fancy going for goal from this position.
50'
It’s Moreno who actually steps up to swing in the cross, but his delivery is a poor one and Adriano easily heads it away from danger.
49'
Liverpool are awarded a free-kick just outside the left-hand edge of the penalty area following a handball by Serdar Tasci. Coutinho looks set to take it once again.
48'
Jurgen Klopp looks far more relaxed than he did for much of the first half, but the home fans are making even more noise than they were at the start of the game.
46'
S. Bocchetti gets yellow.
Kick-off! Spartak get the second half underway.
Bocchetti is shown the first yellow card of the second half for bringing down Can off the ball. Coutinho’s delivery from the resultant free-kick is then headed towards goal by Dejan Lovren and Rebrov pulls off a wonderful reaction save, albeit after the referee had blown his whistle to award Spartak a free-kick for a push in the area.
45'
WHAT A CHANCE!! A golden opportunity goes begging for Liverpool as they break forward at pace with a four on two, but the flag goes up against Mane as he slides in to try and get on the end of Henderson’s cross, although Salah puts the ball wide of an open goal from a tight angle anyway.
43'
Spartak are almost playing with six at the back and four in midfield at times when Liverpool have the ball, but Liverpool still look extremely vulnerable at the back whenever the home side break forward on the counter attack.
42'
Can picks the ball up in space on the right and floats in a cross towards Firmino in the middle, but Rebrov comes off his line quickly and claims the ball high above his head.
40'
Jurgen Klopp is barking instructions to his side on the touchline, perhaps a little frustrated at his side’s inability to break their opponents down.
38'
CHANCE!! Another big chance for Liverpool as Henderson swings in a superb cross from the right which Kutepov completely misses at the back post, but Firmino is unable to react quickly enough five yards out and the ball bounces off him and rolls harmlessly to Rebrov.
37'
Liverpool are knocking the ball around at the back with ease at the minute. They know they’re going to have to remain patient to break down this Spartak side as they’re getting plenty of men behind the ball.
35'
There are appeals for a penalty from Salah as he’s bundled to ground inside the area, but the referee isn’t interested, and rightly so as it was nothing more than a coming together.
33'
That goal, which drew a surprisingly muted celebration from Jurgen Klopp, has not dampened the spirits of the home fans who are still making an extraordinary amount of noise in the stands.
31'
Philippe Coutinho has scored a goal for Liverpool! Assist by S. Mané.
Mane has looked extremely dangerous for Liverpool in this game and he weighted the pass perfectly for Coutinho then.
GOOOOOOOOAAAAAALLLLLLLLLL!!! Liverpool are level!! A wonderful goal for Liverpool as Coutinho plays a neat one-two with Mane on the edge of the area before controlling the ball and lifting it past Rebrov from eight yards out
28'
Rebrov is called into action once again, getting down well to hold on to Mane’s driven effort from the edge of the area. The Spartak goalkeeper has looked extremely assured in everything he’s done so far in this game.
27'
Liverpool have been pretty dominant in the opening minutes of this game despite being a goal behind, but they still look all over the place at the back and are perhaps lucky to avoid conceding a second gas Spartak make a mess of a promising counter-attack.
25'
DISALLOWED GOAL!! Liverpool think they’ve responded immediately as Alexander-Arnold swings in a delightful cross from the right-hand side which is headed in by a diving Mane, but the linesman’s flag goes up for offside, with replays showing the decision to be correct.
23'
Fernando has scored a goal for Spartak Moscow!
GOOOOOOOAAAAAAALLLLLL!!!! Spartak take the lead!! Coutinho gives away a free-kick 25 yards out from his own goal and Fernando steps up to drill the ball over the wall and into the back of the net with a fierce, curling strike.
21'
Mane and Salah have swapped wings for the time being for Liverpool, while Luiz Adriano is almost playing as a left-winger for the hosts, who are essentially playing without a centre forward when Liverpool have the ball.
19'
Matip slides a crisp pass forward towards Salah who is making a dangerous run on the edge of the penalty area, but the pass is deflected away from the winger’s path and into the grateful arms of Rebrov.
17'
SAVE!! A wonderful chance for Liverpool as Mane swings in a cross from the left-hand side, picking out Firmino unmarked 10 yards out from goal, but his powerful header is palmed away by a diving Rebrov to keep the scores level.
16'
Alberto Moreno goes on a surging run forward down the left-hand flank for Liverpool but he lets the ball run away from himself and out of play for a goal kick before he can get a cross into the area.
13'
Jurgen Klopp will be pretty pleased with the way his side have started this game. They haven’t created too many openings but they are certainly on top.
11'
Chance! The best chance of the game so far falls to Trent Alexander-Arnold, who plays a clever one-two with Mohamed Salah inside the right-hand edge of the penalty area before controlling on his chest and hitting a first-time volley, but the shot is lacking conviction and goes comfortably wide of Artem Rebrov’s goal.
10'
Wonderful work from Sadio Mane as he skips past Ilya Kutepov inside the left-hand edge of the penalty box, but he’s unable to pick out Firmino at the back post and Spartak clear the ball away.
9'
It’s been a relatively quiet start to this game on the pitch, but certainly not in the stands, where the Spartak fans are making a huge amount of noise, particularly those behind Loris Karius’s goal.
7'
E. Can gets yellow.
Emre Can is shown an early yellow card for a poor challenge on Salvatore Bocchetti. The German midfielder let the ball get away from himself and then went sliding in with a rash challenge. He will have to be pretty careful now with so long to go in this game.
5'
Philippe Coutinho swings in a deep cross from the left-hand side towards Firmino at the back post, but he just puts too much on the delivery and it floats straight out of play for a goal kick.
3'
Roberto Firmino wins an early free-kick for Liverpool close to halfway, but Jordan Henderson is in no rush to get the ball forward and instead rolls it sideways to ensure his side retain possession.
1'
Kick-off! Referee Clement Turpin blows his whistle and Liverpool get the game underway.
Hello and welcome to live coverage of the Champions League group stage match between Spartak Moscow and Liverpool at the Otkrytiye Arena.
All four sides in Group E are currently level on one point, with Spartak having drawn 1-1 at Maribor while Liverpool drew 2-2 at home to Sevilla in the opening round of fixtures.
Spartak are unbeaten in their last six games in all competitions, although they currently sit ninth in the Russian Premier League table having won just one of their last six league games.
Liverpool go into the game on the back of a dramatic 3-2 win over Leicester City in the Premier League, a result which ended a run of four games without a win in all competitions.
Included in that run was the draw with Sevilla at Anfield, when Jurgen Klopp’s side squandered numerous opportunities to secure the three points, including a penalty miss from Roberto Firmino, before Joaquin Correa’s second half equaliser.
Liverpool (4-3-3): Karius; Alexander-Arnold, Lovren, Matip, Moreno; Can, Henderson, Coutinho; Salah, Firmino, Mane
Spartak are without this season’s top scorer Quincy Promes who misses out with a calf injury, meaning Luiz Adriano leads the line as the lone striker. On-loan Chelsea midfielder Mario Pasalic starts in the middle of midfield, with Andrei Eschenko and Georgi Dzhikiya filling the wing-back roles.
Klopp continues to rotate his goalkeepers with Loris Karius starting ahead of Simon Mignolet, while Sadio Mane, Philippe Coutinho, Mohamed Salah and Firmino all start together for the first time this season.
The two sides last met in the group stages of the Champions League in 2002, with Liverpool winning both home and away, a feat they will be hopeful of repeating this season against a team who haven’t kept a Champions League clean sheet for seven years.
The players are making their way out onto the pitch, kick-off is not far away now.
Half-time: Spartak Moscow 1-1 Liverpool
It’s all square in Moscow after a half which rather epitomises Liverpool’s season. They have been utterly dominant, yet wasteful in front of goal and sloppy at the back, which allowed the hosts to take an early lead through Fernando’s free-kick before Coutinho’s equaliser.
Jurgen Klopp will know that if his side can be more clinical in front of goal after the break they should have enough quality to take home the three points, and he does have Daniel Sturridge at his disposal on the break. Spartak meanwhile will almost certainly look to sit deep and try to exploit Liverpool’s vulnerability on the break.
Full-time: Spartak Moscow 1-1 Liverpool
Despite dominating the majority of the match and creating a whole host of golden opportunities to score a winner, Liverpool must settle for a point, a result which increases the importance of their next two matches against Maribor. Spartak meanwhile, will be absolutely delighted to have got something from that game having spent most of it inside their own half.
That’s all from us for today, thanks for joining us and we hope you can join us again soon.
