Inter get this game underway!
Good evening and welcome along to our Live Text Commentary of Inter vs Napoli from Serie A. Inter come into this game on the back of a torrid run, while Napoli are flying high and looking to secure a top-two finish.
Stefano Pioli's Inter side have not won since March 12 and their recent slump in form has seen them drop down to seventh, while Napoli have won three of their last five in all competitions. Maurizio Sarri's team currently sit third in the table but a win tonight could see them move level on points with Milan.
The pressure will be on the home side tonight, with Pioli's job reportedly under threat. Inter have conceded 13 goals in their last five matches, five of them coming in the 5-4 defeat to Fiorentina last time out.
Napoli were held to a 2-2 draw by Sassuolo in their last Serie A match but Sarri's men will be confident of responding away from home tonight. A win for Napoli could see them move to within one point of second and tonight's encounter promises to be intriguing from start to finish.
Inter Starting XI (4-2-3-1): Handanovic; D'Ambrosio, Medel, Murillo, Nagatomo; Gagliardini, Brozovic; Candreva, Joao Mario, Eder; Icardi
Tonight's team news coming up shortly...
Inter SUBS: Carrizo, Andreolli, Kondogbia, Palacio, Biabiany, Banega, Sainsbury, Perisic, Yao, Gabriel Barbosa
Napoli Starting XI (4-3-3): Reina; Hysaj, Albiol, Koulibaly, Ghoulam; Zielinski, Diawara, Hamsik; Callejon, Mertens, Insigne
Napoli SUBS: Rafael, Sepe, Strinic, Giaccherini, Allan, Maggio, Jorginho, Maksimovic, Chiriches, Rog, Pavoletti, Milik
Inter are still without Cristian Ansaldi so Yuto Nagatomo continues at left-back, with holding midfielder Gary Medel dropping back to centre-back. Defender Joao Miranda is out with a thigh injury, but Ivan Perisic is fit enough to start on the bench.
Sarri has decided to make three changes since that 2-2 draw with Sassuolo, with Strinic, Jorginho and Allan dropping out for Ghoulam, Diawara and Zielinski.
Kick-off now just moments away!!
HALF-TIME - Inter 0-1 Napoli.
After dominating the first half Napoli finally got their reward then in the final moments. Inter did show some signs of frustrating them but that was just too flat from their perspective. With Mertens and Callejon, Napoli have an out ball and they have been a constant threat so far. The latter took his goal well and Sarri will be pleased with his team as they try to close the gap on second place.
In the second half, Inter need to start finding Icardi and bring Antonio Candreva into the game more. Their lack of confidence is apparent so far and they may need a strong half-time team talk to bounce back.
FULL-TIME - Inter 0-1 Napoli - Callejon's strike inside the first 45 minutes give Napoli all three points.
Inter will be left to rue what might have been tonight, a slow start was punished when Callejon scored on the stroke of half-time. They showed more heart and were harder to break down in the second half but Napoli got the job done.
Tonight's result gives Napoli a great chance of finishing second ahead of Roma, while Inter move further away from the European places. Thanks for joining us once again, goodbye!
