Bakambu is penalised for a foul on Gabi and he then proceeds to square up to the Atletico captain to earn himself a yellow card.
90' +3
C. Bakambu gets yellow.
90' +2
Brilliant ball into the danger zone by Griezmann with the outside of his left foot, but it is just slightly too far ahead of everyone.
90' +1
D. Godín gets yellow.
Godin tries to take a quick free-kick from the wrong spot and the referee books him for it. Harsh.
90'
There will be three minutes added on here.
89'
And the referee hasn't forgotten about Jaume, who also picks up a booking.
88'
M. Musacchio gets yellow.
Jaume Costa gets yellow.
Gameiro is teed up on the edge of the box and, after turning past Rodrigo, he gets a left-footed shot away which is blocked.
Villarreal aren't happy about something, though what specifically isn't clear. What gives it away is Musacchio and Jaume Costa getting rather vocal. As a result, Musacchio is shown a yellow card.
87'
Atletico are throwing everything at Villarreal now. Torres looks up for the fight, but the visitors are holding firm at the back.
85'
Rodri enters the game and replaces Manu Trigueros.
Final Villarreal switch now sees Trigueros make way for the youngster Rodrigo.

Description
84'
Atletico have six minutes plus stoppage time to salvage something here. Otherwise Sevilla could go level with them on Thursday.
82'
R. Soriano has scored a goal for Villarreal! Assist by C. Bakambu.
Excellent play by Bakambu as he managed to capitalise on an error and then also play the required pass.
GOAL!!! VILLARREAL HAVE THE LEAD! The visitors bided their time and have punished Atletico's wastefulness. Bakambu does brilliantly to pounce on an error and charge up the right flank. He gets into the area and plays the ball across the goal for Soriano to bundle home. Atleti are in trouble!
80'
Atletico get themselves straight back down the other end and Torres makes himself a nuisance by winning a corner. Andres deals easily with the following delivery, though.
78'
The hosts survive! Villarreal do brilliantly on the right, with Samu and Soriano linking well on the right. Eventually the former cuts the ball back to the edge of the area for the Italian, but his effort is deflected and then Atleti clear.
76'
C. Bakambu enters the game and replaces N. Sansone.
Another Villarreal switch now. Bakambu - who scored twice off the bench at the weekend - is on and Sansone departs after a pretty ineffective game.
75'
Good effort there, as Roberto Soriano goes for goal from some 30 yards. His fierce low drive is easily saved by Oblak, but it wasn't a bad effort.
74'
Soldado gets yellow.
Almost an immediate impact! Filipe Luis clips a fine cross into the area and Torres meets it with a header at the near post, but it goes just wide of the left-hand post.
He might not be on the pitch, but apparently that doesn't stop Roberto Soldado getting booked. The striker is out warming up and must have said something because he has been shown a yellow card.
72'
Fernando Torres enters the game and replaces Y. Carrasco.
Carrasco's day ends early as he is forced off with that shoulder injury picked up a few moments ago. On comes Torres.
71'
Another opportunity appears to present itself, as Carrasco races on to a pass in behind the defence and he gets there ahead of Andres. He turns back on himself and passes towards Gameiro, but Bruno makes an important interception.
70'
Scary moment for Atletico there! Villarreal work the ball well to the left flank and Jaume crosses well. Soriano and Samu make their presence known and Oblak flaps at it, while Savic gets a vital touch to flick it away. The hosts escape unscathed, though.
68'
Lovely play by Carrasco initially as he ties Villarreal in knots in the area. Dos Santos makes the tackle, but Filipe Luis pounces and sends a right footed effort well over. He should have done better.
66'
A. Rukavina gets yellow.
Rukavina knocks Carrasco over just inside the Villarreal half and earns himself a booking. The Belgian is left clutching his shoulder.
A rare bit of pressure for Villarreal as Dos Santos drives a corner into the area. It is headed out, before Samu clips the ball back into the danger zone. Atletico reamin firm at the back.
64'
R. Soriano enters the game and replaces Adrián López.
Former Atletico man Adrian gets a warm ovation as he heads off. Roberto Soriano takes his place, so not a bad change to make!
63'
It's all been a bit one-sided since the break and Atletico are on the prowl again. But this time Carrasco attacks Rukavina and hits a poor cross behind the goal.
61'
The Atletico attack comes to an end as Godin is guilty of a foul at the back post.
60'
Carrasco smashes his free-kick into the wall. Griezmman hammers the rebound into a crowd. And the Koke's effort is deflected just over. That had Andres worried.
58'
Manu Trigueros gets yellow.
Out comes the yellow card again and it is a blatant one. Trigueros dived in and took Griezmann out just outside the area. The Frenchman doesn't accept an apology either. This is a great chance for the hosts.
56'
Y. Carrasco enters the game and replaces N. Gaitán.
K. Gameiro enters the game and replaces Á. Correa.
The first of two Atleti changes now. Correa is the one to make way, with Gameiro on in his place.
And that miss is Gaitan's final involvement. Carrasco takes his play out wide. Simeone has made his move.
55'
Gabi gets yellow.
The first yellow of the game is shown to Gabi, as he rather cynically barges Samu over.
54'
BIG SAVE! Griezmann somehow squeezes a pass beyond the Villarreal defence despite being hauled down, and Gaitan charges through. Andres comes out on top in the one-on-one, though.
52'
Atletico aren't impressed now, as Jaume clears the ball and it bounces off Gimenez before also touching the Villarreal left-back as it goes out. It should be a corner, but the officials missed it.
50'
Excellent cross there by Gimenez, as he bends a delivery between the defence and Andres, but no one is there to get on the end of it.
48'
Atletico almost click for the first time in this second period, as Correa darts forward and squares to Gaitan, but his clever first touch is anticipated by Musacchio, who clears.
46'
Villarreal get the action started again for the second half.
45' +1
HALF-TIME!
44'
Another speculative long-range effort from Atletico. This time it is Koke who has a go and it is a good effort, but Andres dealt with it comfortably.
42'
A sudden burst from Dos Santos opens Atleti up in midfield. He feeds Adrian to the left, but his attempt to beat his former team-mate Gimenez is pretty hopeless and the hosts survive with minimal fuss.
40'
Vital touch! Griezmann looks offside but the assistant doesn't raise his flag. The Frenchman almost manages to find a pass to Correa, but Alvaro gets a toe to it crucially.
38'
Villarreal work themselves into a good position on the left flank, but Jaume tries to beat Gimenez instead of crossing. He manages to squeeze the ball through his counterpart's legs, but it then rolls out of play.
36'
Griezmann's doing his best to get himself involved and he goes for goal from distance again. But as before, his low effort is watched all the way by Andres.
34'
Close! Atleti's corner doesn't come to much, but they keep the pressure on. Correa is the latest to try his luck, finding the side-netting with his fierce right-footed drive.
32'
VILLARREAL SURVIVE! Koke's lofted pass is accidentally flicked on by Alvaro and Griezmann sees a rasping half-volley blocked by Andres. Then Gaitain's follow-up header is tipped around the post by the goalkeeper.
30'
Griezmann gets his first shot away of the match as he runs at the defence and then lets fly from 25 yards. He slips as he strikes it and, as a result, Andres is able to scoop it up with ease.
29'
Gabi's delivery doesn't beat the first man. Atleti maintain the pressure, but eventually Godin knocks Alvaro over and concedes a free-kick.
28'
Good chasing by Griezmann, as he collects the ball out on the left, cuts it back to Filipe and his cross is headed behind for the match's first corner.
26'
Another good move by Atletico. Griezmann, Correa and Gaitan exchanges short, sharp passes in a tight area, before Saul is teed up 30 yards out and his effort goes over. Not a bad try, though.
24'
A rare Villarreal attack ultimately sees them passing back to their centre-backs. But they do eventually work it back into the attacking third, before Dos Santos passes out for a goal-kick. They've not caused Atleti any problems yet.
22'
Gaitan is involved again, as Atletico tear through Villarreal very quickly. Correa slips his compatriot into the left side of the area, but the eventual cross is sliced behind. Not great!
20'
A little eager there from Gaitan, as he barges into Jaume in the area when trying to reach a cross and he is penalised.
18'
Atletico are beginning to keep Villarreal penned into their own defensive third, but the visitors will be happy with how quiet Griezmann has been.
16'
Respite for Villarreal, as Saul fouls Trigueros. But just before that Musacchio made a vital intervention to prevent Correa slipping through.
14'
Dos Santos swings a free-kick into the Atleti area from the right flank. Oblak punches clear, before it is nudged back into the area. Sansone's speculative overhead effort is harmless, though.
12'
Great goalkeeping! Atleti are turning on the style now. Correa pounces on a miscued square pass, makes space and forces Andres Fernandez into action. Griezmann looks set to smash in the rebound, but the keeper slaps the ball away in time. Shortly after Saul meets a cross with a powerful header, but again the man between the posts comes out on top;
10'
Almost brilliant play by Gaitan! The winger turns Jaume inside out in the right side of the penalty area, but he then gets the ball stuck under his feet. The left-back battles back and knocks the ball against his opponent to win a goal-kick.
9'
Good play by Saul initially as he burst on to a loose ball in midfield and darted forward. But his eventual pass through for Correa never gave the attacker a chance.
7'
We have a pause in play here now as Gimenez seeks medical attention. The Uruguayan clashed heads with Dos Santos, but he should be OK.
5'
Villarreal have calmed things down a little here. They're just knocking the ball around patiently and keeping from Atletico. They don't look very purposeful, though.
3'
Lovely football from the home side. Gaitan darts through the middle, offloading to Griezmann who then quickly passes forward to Correa in the area. He is crowded out and then dispossessed after being forced out wide.
1'
Off we go! Atletico get us started at the Vicente Calderon.
Hello and welcome to the LIVE coverage of Atletico Madrid against Villarreal in LaLiga. I will be describing the action for you today, as Diego Simeone's men look to open up a six-point gap ahead of fourth-placed Sevilla.
Atletico starting XI (4-3-3): Oblak; Gimenez, Godin, Savic, Filipe Luis; Gabi, Koke, Saul; Gaitan, Griezmann, Correa.
Villarreal subs: Barbosa, Jose Angel, Rodri, Bonera, Soriano, Bakambu.
Villarreal starting XI (4-3-3): Andres; Rukavina, Musacchio, Alvaro, Jaume Costa; Dos Santos, Trigueros, Bruno; Castillejo, Adrian, Sansone.
Simeone has shifted things around a little from the weekend win at Espanyol, where Antoine Griezmann netted the only goal of the game. Fernando Torres and Yannick Carrasco both make way in attack, with Nico Gaitan and Angel Correa drafted in from the start. Kevin Gameiro remains on the bench after returning from almost a month out in Barcelona on Saturday.
It's fair to say that Atletico have found form at the perfect time. While they looked to be losing out to Sevilla earlier in the season, Simeone's men have come on strong when Sampaoli's side started to stutter. The Madrid club have been so good that they've only lost once since February 4.
Atletico won't be expecting today's contest to be a straightforward one. Villarreal might not be at their very best at the moment, but the talent they have certainly makes them a real threat to Simeone's men. Dropping points will allow Sevilla to close the gap should they beat Celta Vigo on Thursday.
Villarreal coach Fran Escriba has made four changes from the side which beat Leganes. Antonio Rukavina, Jonathan Dos Santos, Samu Castillejo and Adrian come into the team, with Mario Gaspar, Roberto Soriano, Cedric Bakambu and Roberto Soldado dropping out.
The players are now out on the pitch, with kick-off just a few moments away.
As expected, Villarreal definitely aren't making this very easy - even if they aren't offering much attacking threat! Atleti have had the better of things, certainly, but Andres hasn't been tested too often.
Well, well, well. Just when Atletico Madrid were looking at their very best, they lose at home. Credit to Villarreal, who were defensively brilliant throughout and took the one clear chance which fell to them. The hosts, though, were wasteful and lacked creativity at times. This should breathe life into Atletico's tussle for third with Sevilla, who can now go level on 68 points with Simeone's side with a win over Celta on Thursday.
